I agree Libby, I believe that my multiple attempts w/ Clomid depleted my ovarian reserve.

Jeanne, of course you are right - long term use of anything can be harmful. Short spates are of much less concern.

I guess my short answer would be "No." I did not, do not worry about cancer due to my short time on fertility drugs. I think a greater worry might be depleting one's egg supply prematurely when on the drugs that make you hyper-ovulate.

If there are conclusive studies that show fertility med are causally linked to cancer - I have not seen them. That said, I have never looked for them either.

No, I don't. No cancer in my family history.

If I had to predict what I will be battling it will be diabetes or heart disease or both. My grandmother on my mom's side died of a heart attack in her early 40's and she was in shape (a professional dancer)! And my father had a quadruple bypass and two pacemakers before he died a couple years ago.

But he was also a type2 diabetic, as is one of my older brothers. With that in my family history, plus PCOS (which is related to insulin production), plus having gestational diabetes during my first pregnancy, I am risk factor central to develop it myself. It's really just a matter of staving it off as long as I can.

I sort of cringed at all of the drugs for an IVF in front of my RE. He said that the hormones for that procedure (bravelle, menopaur, estrogen, etc.) were perfectly safe. Adding chemicals that are all ready in your body. He said he thought Clomid was really not great for people. Instead of a synthetic hormone, it is a chlorine based chemical that blocks receptors in the brain.
