Extended 2ww?

Hi everyone,

Just a quick update:

My IUI was on May 1, and according to how my body reacted for the first three cycles AF would have arrived by Sunday (15 dpo), but still no sign as of tonight. I took a home pg test (the kind that are supposed to detect pg even BEFORE your period is due) but it was negative. This is very confusing. If it's indeed negative, why does the wait have to be so drawn out??

I read there are false negatives but no false positives with HPT kits. And, someone on the Clomid board once had her beta test come out negative, only to discover a week later she was pg....So, I guess there's hope!

Any thoughts appreciated. In the meantime all the best, and baby dust, to all,

Hi Lisa,

I agree with Cathie, the HPT's are just so unpredictable. Keep in mind, like Cathie said, the implantation could have accured late (which means the hormone levels are still too low to detect).

My last cycle lasted 40 days until AF arrived but I realized that I had ovulated late, thus the late period.

However, a good friend of mine had an IVF last year. After the 2ww period, she took a HPT and it was negative. She took another one 3 days later, and then a third a day after that, all negative. She went to her RE who did a blood test which came back positive. Just to test the HPT's, she did another test three weeks after her confirmed positive blood test, and the HPT still came back negative. All this, and she was carrying twins! So you would think the hormone levels would be even stronger. She is now the proud mother of twin girls.

So.... moral of the long winded story. When in doubt, see if you can get a blood test.

Keep us posted!!!

Hi Lisa,

I agree with everyone else....you should take that beta test! I understand it is much more sensitive and detects hcg sooner.....

Wishing you positive test, positive thoughts!

Cathie, Linda, Barb,

Thanks so much for your messages! Today still no AF...(my heart is pounding even to report that fact!)

Linda, your friend's story is inspirational! That's incredible, the test was still negative after time had passed and she was very pregnant!!

I guess I have not done a beta test yet out of superstition - Probably because those beta tests represent a BFN to me! I can just hear the nurse on the phone, "It came back negative." Always the same phrase.

I think I will wait one or two more days, then ask my GP to send me for a blood test (I was followed by an RE in Europe this cycle, so I won't go to an RE for the test).

I am so glad you're sending positive vibes out to the universe for me!! I wish the same to you!

I'll keep you posted. All the best,

Lisa

Hi Lisa,

Your HPT could be wrong. Especially if you took injectibles with your IUI and/or Progesterone suppositories or shots.

I will be praying you get a BFP!!!!!

+++++++++++++++Prayers &+++++++++++vibes coming to you!!!!!+++++++++++++
