Holy smokies, I just came from the health food store, picking up a "few things." Namely, frozen organic wheat grass juice cubes, more VITEX, acidophilus, and apple cider vinegar for liver cleansing.

Of course, a child is priceless, but can I whine a bit about the costs--stuff that's in addition to everything involved in IVF?

Acupuncture = $70 session. Going every other week, for now.
Cleansing supplies, like wheat grass juice, apple cider vinegar, acidophilus for GI tract health: $45. The wheat grass cubes are basically a dollar per cube! (they recommend 2/day for cleansing)
Supplements and vitamins? Hahaha. Here's my list:

CoEnzyme Q-10 for "egg health" and energy
VITEX herbal supplements for hormone regulation (will stop when IVF starts) 2x daily: 1 morning/night
Prenatal vitamin high in fish oils, DHA, and Folic acid
Royal Jelly for "egg health"
DHEA 50 mg for "egg health" 2x daily: 1 morning/night
Fish oil/Evening primrose oil (good for depression, which I have had, and nice skin! plus, other baby-makin' related things)
Drinking decaf green tea--that's actually pretty cheap! :)

That's quite a wad to choke down every day. So is the cost of it all! But I am a firm believer that this stuff works at least a *little* bit. Enough to make taking it worth it. I am now off anti-depressants completely, and feeling great emotionally (this will change once the IVF hormones start, I'm guessing. OMG!), and my skin looks awesome. My lips are definitely more pink since starting the supps, indicating the my blood flow is better. (The acu said as much).

I know there's a mess of other stuff I could toss in there, too-raspberry leaf tea, um, er, ah (scratching head)...and maca, PABA, etc, but I feel like this particular set up of complimentary treatments is plenty. I know I can only afford a few rounds of IVF (NO insurance coverage for it in NY, at least not with anything I've found.) So I gotta do what I gotta do to stack the deck in my favor.

Can you mix tequila with a wheat grass shooter? No? Why WHY NOT?????

Ladies, this is some adventure we're on!

Can't help with the cost of services, but a lot of supplements are sold at awesome discounts at vitacost.com. That's where I get everything.

Check it out...

LOL, yep, can totally relate. My list is longer LOL- it's a bummer.......and a fortune. Fortunately my insurance covers acu.
You can grow wheatgrass for cheap, it's not difficult at all to do and won't put you out financially if one is inclined to do (it's actually fun to watch it grow).

The royal jelly price really stinks as does resveratrol, Q10, etc;

Yes, it's some ride, ain't it? Had better work is all I say. And that darned lubricant was expensive too (preseed). I had better turn up preggo soon else I'll be broke.

NP.

By the way, Acu at $70 a pop is a great price. Here in DC it's between $85 to $120 a pop.

Wow--didn't realize I was getting such a deal. I fully credit my acu for getting me off the anti-depressants, so that alone has been worth it.
