gloomy news, then hope on the horizon

hi, all,
Here is a short update on me -- not as joyous as some other announcements this week.

I called my RE to ask for status on our DE application. They now say Dec. or January -- a mere 5 months!

I told him that I haven't had my period in 2 months and asked if this was a side effect of the IVF cycle. He said that, given that I did so poorly with the IVF meds (zero follicles), that he thought that my ovaries were fizzing out and the end is near.

But, he said that it would not impact the DE procedure at all. So, now all I have to do is wait till Christmas and hope for the best.....

So, I will be around this board for at least 5 more months !@!@! And then, I intend to post a BFP!!!

all the best,
martha

thank you, Susan..... you're the best!

From what I understand from the DE board, a lot of these places claim a lot, but then don't necessarily deliver what they claim. My RE has people in house, but for some reason 2 months turned into 3-6 months turned into more like 7 months. Plus, it takes around 3 weeks to get all of the additional testing done (EKG, mammo, chest X-ray, lipid panel, on and on.....)

I was on depro-provera in my 20s and didn't get my period for 3 years! It is strange.... I will miss ole' aunt flo!

Susan, I hope you can convince your DH to pursue DE. You could even keep trying with the Fermera while you are waiting. From my experience, however, it can be a lot longer than they claim. I remember being in the RE's office in Feb. for our first appointment. He suggested DE, but I said I wanted to do one round of IVF just to try. Fast forward to May... Fast forward to August.... and now, wait till it starts to snow before my BFP! (hey, it's 100+ now, so that sounds nice!)

We're doing the last round of painting tonight! House is ready -- bring on the binkies and spit up clothes! No barfing on the leather couch, please!

best,
martha

I am glad that AF missing isn't going to hold things up for you, but that is a long wait to be sure! Hopefully all goes really well come December/January. :-)

God Martha, I hate waiting too. I went onto the embie adoption list in March 2008. I got my first embies in July 09 and the 11 frozen eggs (that resulted in these twins) in January 10. At the time, the waiting was really terrible, but once you get going, time just flies. I had to go on BCP for two months (Feb/ March) and Lupron for four weeks (March/April) and thought it would never end. And taking BCP when you have IF makes you feel really

thank you, Krista, Diane, Michelle, and Susan! I feel much better today.... typing therapy worked.

I, too, am a California girl (SF). Winter to me is supposed to mean rain... summer = gloves and a pull over!

I teach and we're about to start school again, so basically I've got the fall semester to have all of that DH fun and forget about all of this!

all the best,
martha

Martha, do you have to use one of their donors?

yes, we're going with one of their donors.... I looked at some of these independent DE agencies yesterday and they said 2-4 months. So, that is basically as long as we have now. Plus, seemed like they charged more? I don't know... I'm sort of resigned to waiting now.

I did all of the testing (I think!!!) EKG, mammo, etc., etc., etc. They wouldn't even put you in line until it was all finished.

I teach at the local university, so that would be too strange! "wanna A ??? just become a DE!@!$#@#"

Thanks for your input.
