Do you ladies know if there are issues surrounding the use of hair dye while you are pregnant??

Thanks for your wisdom in advance..

Hi Kate,

I heard that it's best not to get your hair dyed during the first trimester. Some people decide not to dye their hair at all. It's best to ask your doctor. Also, I heard that some dyes are better (more natural) than others - so check with your hairstylist about the products they use, or check ingredients if you do it yourself.

My hairstylist said she would do a semi-permanent color just to help cover some of the greys if need be. But she would want me to talk with my doctor before doing anything.

I've been very curious about this, too. So if any one else has good advice on this, please let us know!

All the best to you, Kate! And, congratulations!!!!

I think it just depends on you and your doctor. I've had friends who's docs told them that it's not really an issue....

I've also heard that it's not so much the chemicals as it's the fact that your hair grows faster and therefore has to be dyed more often.

I myself, will probably continue to dye.

I dyed my hair all through my first pregnancy in 1982, I don't think it was an issue back then.

My last pregnancy in 2002. I was told not to dye hair in the beginning, but during the last trimester the dr told me it would be fine to dye it, so I did.

Both babies were fine.
