Age matters. One reason for the increased incidence of multiple births in the United States is the trend toward delaying pregnancy. The incidence of twins increases for women over the age of 35 and even more if you are over 50. To put it in perspective, your chance of giving birth to twins if you are under 25 years of age is less than half of what it would be after the age of 35.
The odds of twins increase with the use of assisted reproductive technology. Both ovulation-inducing drugs (infertility treatment) and in-vitro fertilization increase the odds of having twins. Between 1973 and 1990, twin births increased at twice the rate of singletons, and triplet and higher order births increased at seven times the rate of singletons. (Obstetrics and Gynecology 1994; 84:101-6)

Hello there!
I just had to post as our situations are somewhat similar. I'm 41, DH 29.5, DS 20, DS 14, DS 12, DD 7 and DD 2.5. Obviously my first 4 children are from my previous marriage. DH would like one more and we're planning on TTC sometime the beginning of next year. Am I crazy??
Wow looks ike your chances are good. Whats up with us? I'm 41 and DH is 32....LOL we're all swimming in the same lake I guess. I would love love love to have twins. Heck I'll be happy with one just to see my husband smile because his dream has come true.

flo is due tomorrow. I have many signs but dont know if they are preconceived, excuse the pun...lol I had myself convinced once that I was pregnant and wasnt. We've been trying for many months now. Had fsh and e2 numbers checked, fsh was 13.9, but not inconceivable...lol there I go again. I'm hoping the clomid works. I go back to the RE on the 16th, if nothing more I'll have an idea of what direction we will go in.
