The LH surge that never ends....

I know you are supposed to just get the one positive OPK and then stop testing.....but....I kept testing, every mid-morning and evening. I can't be the only one to have done that!

I've now had three days of positive mid-morning tests. When I got home from work around 6pm I poas again and it was still positive. I just poas again 8pm (3 hrs later) and the darkness of the line has finally abated enough to be considered negative.

So....I know we can ovulate anytime between 12-36 hours after the surge. In your alls experience, does the LH surge keep showing up even after you ovulate?

According to my RE, it counts from when you first detect the surge....I know sometimes mine last awhile and sometimes they are gone pdq. But keep bding for goodness sakes, don't take any chances! lol.

Bridget,
I do recall that OPKs can be problematic for women over 40.

That said, I also heard that OPKs can be a substitute for a HPT. Have you tried one of those??? Maybe you are actually preggers!

I don't think I am pregnant yet. Ovulation pain for the last several days and, EWCM through yesterday. I haven't seen any EWCM today but I stopped taking the Robitussin yesterday becuase I was so sick of how nauseated it was making me.

I just talked DH into a quick BD this morning - he begged to go take a shower first so I am letting him do that and trying to get our son occupied with games on pbskids.org....

I think either I already o'd and the surge is just taking a while to die down....or I still haven't and will shortly (today or tomorrow I guess). My temps have not confirmed anything yet.

Bridget, I used to have multiple positives and it would make me crazy. I tried the CBEFM (monitor) and it would have sustained days of high when I was getting the multiple +. I asked my obgyn and they were no help. I had to finally rely solely on the temp rise - ie, from first + we would BD EOD until we saw 3 days of sustained higher temps. It is true as we get older opks become less reliable because we have more surges.

Bridget,
If I had to guess when you o'd, it would be between cycle days 15-16 - before the surge.. Odd. Things don't seem to be lining up in a predictable way for you this month...

I'm so glad I'm not the only one having a hard time with predicting "o"! I stopped using OPK's for the exact same reason, and thought temps would be more reliable, but this cycle my temps are all over the map.

Maybe we should just stop tracking all together and just BD EOD. So frustrating!!
