Minor hyperstim

Well, as you can see, I have still been on the board quite a bit, we had a delay in our plans and won't be off until Tuesday. However, there is still a lot of stress and I really shouldn't be on here at all since DH's parents are arriving sometime tomorrow! Argh!!!

Just to make life more interesting while we stress about being ready for them, my body decided to go just a little overboard this month by hyperstimulating on clomid. Lovely. It isn't too bad, just uncomfortable and quite annoying. This is the third time I have done this, the second time with clomid. Strange though, I was on it for about 7 months 6 yrs ago and never did this once, and now I am going 2 out of 3 months. Mind you, I won't mind a bit if there is a bfp at the end of this! I just wish I knew what I am doing differently this time around, or what has changed since then, since I really don't like doing this, even if it is a pretty mild case of it.

Well, I don't know what a hyperstim is, but if it ends in a BFP, I'll be doing cartwheels for you! 8-}

OK . . . snap to it and get ready for the in-laws! Hope to see you on here again very soon. I very much appreciate your presence here.

How do you know that you are hyperstimulating?

michelle, i'm curious too about what it feels like to hyperstim on clomid????? i upped mine to 100mg this cycle, as it is my last on clomid, and i didn't feel much difference except ONE major hot flash, to the extent of me thinking i was going to self combust!

i think i would love if my in-laws came to stay with me. i get along with them very well. but maybe it's good they don't, so we can keep getting along well - wink wink - good luck with that!! I hope your bfp is waiting for you at the end of this cycle!!!

Thanks Melissa, I hope that dust works! So the inlaws have arrived, now we just need to survive it all! Hyper stimulating is basically where your body goes nuts with fertility meds and your ovaries and such can get quite swollen and uncomfortable. It can be quite serious, but anytime I have done that it has been quite mild and manageable.

Kristi, I probably wouldn't recognize it except that I had a fairly serious case of it years ago when I was on pergonal. For me, the symptoms this time around amounted to a lot of feelings of discomfort and pain across my ovary and uterus, and even a bit where my other ovary should be, which is a bit strange. Kind of like everything was swollen and very tender to the touch. As it resolves, I get a touch of diarrhea, but then the pain and the swelling go away. It is very much like a touch of the flu or something, yet not quite. And for me it happens just after ovulation. In this case it only lasted a couple of days, but when I had it before it lasted a week or more and I could hardly move during that time. Fortunately though, the frequency of hyper stimulating is not at all common, so most of the rest of you should have nothing to worry about. I tend to be quite unique in all things fertility wise, in that if there is a small percentage that gets something I tend to be in it! Lol!

Hi Cath, so far I am surviving the in-laws but it has only been a few hours! Lol! Ask me later when I have spent more time with them! Thankfully I am feeling much better today, just very tired from trying to get ready from them!

Hi Lynda, yeah, I had a few hot flashes this time around too! Don't like those side effects at all! Years ago when I had them quite badly right about the time my Mum was going through menopause, she started laughing at me! I told her it wasn't fair to have to go through them in TRYING to have a child when most women go through that when they are DONE having children! Lol!

I explained some about hyper stimming in my other posts, so I won't repeat myself here, but don't worry, I am just that small statistic that does these weird things! I would likely just think it was the flu or food poisoning except that I know the signs and symptoms from when I had it quite bad. No worries, you will be fine.

Now as for the in-laws, I guess we will see how it goes!

Easy does it, Michelle. Hope you enjoy them and they don't drive you wild. I become homicidal around the holidays knowing I have to travel to Cincinnati to visit them. It's enough to give me a nervous breakdown!
