I got a chance to speak with the *older woman * (got to love that term LOL) who was pushing her twins in the stroller yesterday. She's 52 and the twins are 10 months old. She did IVF with her eggs and the babies are 10 months old born full term at 39 weeks. Gave me hope! There's hope for all of us.

I have to agree with Martha on this one.

All the clinics I've found cut off at 43 for using their own eggs with IVF.

you never know, though. Maybe her husband is an RE ! My RE has seven children. Good advertisement for the business.

Or, maybe she, herself, is an RE? Or a lab tech? Could happen...

But in all seriousness, DE is a procedure to hold out hope for... same as IVF. As we have been discussing in another thread, there is epigenetic exchange between the embryo and the mother.

Regardless of how she came to conceive, she had a baby and good

I'm not sure- I think there might be a fertility clinic that does use older's women's eggs. She could have gone there. I don't know where she went- the babies look like her though.

I 100% think you should see that as a sign of hope. Sometimes the universe speaks to us in its own special way, perhaps that was a sign for you.

That IS encouraging for sure! In regard to whether it was her eggs or not, it could easily have been her eggs from when she was 30-something, you know? Doesn't necessarily mean they are 52 yr old eggs, but either way it doesn't really matter. 52 is incredible to have 10 month old twins!

Yes, it could have been a sign! LOL, who knows. I agree, growing child in you = your baby.
Her husband looks a lot younger and she could have frozen her eggs for such a time in the future.

I do have one friend who is my age and came to my state to get IVF (she had a tubal for years) and she got pregnant on first IVF try (so lucky) and is due in Jan. An acupuncturist here told me my town is known for women who are older having babies. It's kind of the norm here. My acu also had a patient get pregnant at 47or 48 and she works with the IVF team so maybe it is more liberal here in terms of age? I don't know for sure. I think New Hope in NY and Mexico works with older women. I don't live near either though.

Waaaaaait a minute, MC2009, are you seeing Dr K @ NYU or is there *another* RE with 7 kids?! (wouldn't surprise me. to use the famous quote, "they have the technology." And the money to raise 'em, thanks to us! LOL)

Anyway, hope is hope is hope, DE or not. If they were her own eggs, they may in fact have been frozen back when, or, what the heck, maybe she is a statistical outlier.

At the very least, you can say to yourself, "Well, dang, she's over 50 and doing this, so I'm a KID by comparison!"

If you drew hope from it, it's a good deal!
