ObsessIng over every little twinge

Yesterday I decided I probably didn't ovulate on the 50mg of Clomid. Negative OPKs all week (tested Tues thru today, Sunday). I actually tested twice on Friday and twice on Saturday. All negative.

We BD'd twice (Wed and Friday evening). I had some CM on Thursday and good CM on Friday, although I would not have classified it as egg white, but maybe I don't understand the descriptions I am reading. Completely dried up by Saturday morning. I did not bother with BDing yesterday evening as were hosting a little sleepover and the boys took forever going to sleep as one would expect and I knew DH would think I was crazy for asking, plus I was sure I had not ovulated and the CM was gone.

Today (Sunday) I noticed lower back pain and abdominal pain. Both mild. Feels like I am having mild cramps and got a little workout yesterday (I did NOTHING strenuous yesterday). It's been going on for a few hours now. I am lying down right now and feeling a tightening sensation in my abdomen.

So now I am thoroughly confused. Am I feeling ovulation? I do Vaguely remember this feeling from before...but it's been 5 years.

Let's say I did miss my surge and my CM on Thurs and Friday was the EWCM, ovulation would have happened Friday evening or early Sat morning since I was all dried up by mid morning Saturday (yesterday) right? Or is
this the right time for me to be feeling ovulation "pain" even though all my tests were negative including the one this morning (mid morning)? Maybe the Clomid dried up my CM but the ovulation was still forthcoming? That doesn't explain how I missed it in the tests though.

If I wasn't TTC I doubt I'd even be noticing these sensations - well I would notice the lower back pain - but not the cramping/tightening.

Maybe it was just something I ate! Seriously! My stomach IS making funny noises.

This is normal to obsess like this, right?

I took my temp properly yesterday - slept several house - didn't even get out of bed to take it - 6:30am.

That was the 97 degrees even score.

The day before I had just woken up, but I had been up earlier in the morning, and it was 9:30am.

But I plan to stick to the 6:30am routine from here on out.

Also Bridget, are you taking your temp at the same time every morning? And is it after at least 3 hours of consecutive sleep? My OB/GYN always tells met hat so many factors can alter the temp and to take them with a grain of salt.

I agree with Susan--keep BDing if DH will go for it, just to be safe. :)

Yes, it is VERY easy to obsess over every little thing in this TTC business! Hang in there. The first month or two takes a bit to figure out what all is going on.

Yes, clomid can make things a bit confusing. Temping certainly helps to clarify that though. CM can be off, but not necessarily. Cramping can be a good indicator, but not a reliable one. Clomid can also delay your normal ovulation by a couple of days. There are things you can do to help improve your CM, can't remember what they all are, but I think pineapple juice is one of them. I think there should be a post somewhere in the info section that tells about some of that.

Here is what I would be thinking if it were me. Given the cm now, in combination with your temp drop, and a possible delay of O because of clomid as well as the twinges, I would be guessing that O might be happening right then. I always get a temp drop the day before ovulation, but that does not happen for everyone. It is nice, gives me a bit of warning. I could be totally wrong of course, but only time will tell. OPK's were never reliable for me, don't know if I just missed the surge or what. I think maybe my surges are not as high as the typical ones that the OPKs measure.

Anyway, get the blood test if you can, and definitely start temping, both will help you to know what is going on for you.

Bridget, of course I can't see a chart but a temp of 97 is super low.

Bridget {{{HUGS}}}}
I have never taken Clomid myself, but I have heard over and over again that it can dry up the CM. And as far as OPKs go, you can def O and miss the surge on the OPK if it was a few hours too early or late.

I know what you mean about obsessing over every little twinge and detail!! Sometimes I think my CM dried up because I checked it too many times in one day! LOL!
