I am a week shy of 41 and TTC with my H for our first baby. I have a question regarding OPK, but first some info on my situation.
I have been on the pill for many years and had just one cycle off of it last month. It was 25 days and we did not get PG. I am not entirely sure when I ovulate.
This month, we started trying, and today - 18 days into my cycle, I feel lower belly twinges and fatigue, so I took a preg. test and it turned up negative. I don't know if I am PMSing or what. I have no clue as being on the pill for so many years has me out of touch with what was normally a regular cycle (but now I ma in my 40s so who knows?).
OK here is where I NEED SOME HELP:
I bought an ovulation predictor kit today and peed on the stick - 18 days into my cycle that I have no idea how long it is. The OPK came up POSITIVE as an LH surge! First time I ever tried this.
Here I am thinking I am PMSing and perhaps I am ovulating??
Here is my question:
Since I started the OPK 18 days into my cycle, and not the recommended day after my period ends, and this first test showed up positive, could I really be ovulating?
Do OPKs remain positive long after the ovulation has occurred???
Did I totally screw myself by beginning my OPK test 18 days into my cycle?? Or am I really ovulating??
I really need some clarity and am wondering if there is a good chance the OPK showed positive but that I may have ovulated last week. HELP!!!
Do OPKs remain positive long into the cycle or become positive late in the cycle??
Thank you for all your help in advance!
