I am 41, I just had a m/c on 7/01, and I am trying to connect with other women over 40 who are trying to conceive their first child. Anyone out there care to connect with a kindred spirit??

I would love to hear from you

Bonnie

Hi Bonnie,

I'm Robin and am 41, ttc #1 also. I'm new to this as well so bear with me. My DH and I have been married for about 1 1/2 years and have been ttc for about a year. My DH had a reversal last July and when we got no results by April, we decided to get more aggressive. My doctor immediately put me on pergonal for the first two months. Now after one month rest I started Gonal F yesterday. I wish I had started this progess earlier, but here I am. I'd like to talk with you as I will be lurking about the boards on this site. Good luck to you and I will keep you posted on my "adventure" and I hope you do the same.

I am soooooo glad you responded to my message!! I was beginning to wonder where all the over 40's who have not had any children yet were!! I usually am on the new over 40 board (http://www.network54.com/Hide/Forum/246423), but I am really trying to buddy up with someone my age (41) who is TTC #1 just like me, and many of the ladies there, who are great and have lots of advice, already have kids.

As of yet we have not been to an RE. We got pg naturally on April, but I m/c at 11 weeks on July 1st. The Dr said it was twins, and there was a chromosonal defect. The good news is we got pg with no help, so she (Dr.) said we can try agian after my next cycle. If we are not pg by the end of the year, we will go to an RE and get some help.

I would love to email with you if you would like

Good luck to you!

Bonnie

Hey,

I'm 42 and trying to have a second child - I had my first at 40. I have started taking clomid and have had my follicles checked. My doctor says I have what it takes, but no luck yet. What does your doctor say? Keep on trying!!

Hi,

I'm very glad you wrote back. I see all these people chit-chatting back and forth like they've known each other forever. It's like starting at a new school.

I'm sorry to hear about your m/c. You are lucky to be able to get pg naturally. And I would certainly continue to try that way if I got results. My sister is two years older than me and has a 18 mo.old and a three year old naturally, so I was hoping it ran in the family, but it doesn't. My husband had a reversal one year ago, I've had everything from blocked tubes to high FSH. Now we're dealing with his low counts along with trying to regulate my meds. This is my third cycle in four months. I'm waiting to hear from the nurse now to determine our "fate" for the next week. I will tell you that had I known it would be this difficult and involved, I would have seen a RE a loooong time ago.

I'll look you up on the other web site when I get some results. Take care.

Robin

I'm Gail, age 48. I mostly lurk here now because I'm not TTC any more. But I did want to say that I conceived at age 42, naturally, on our honeymoon and had Alexander at age 43. So it definitely is possible.

Lots of +~+~+~+~+~+~+~~+~+ vibes to all!

Sorry it took me so long to respond to your post. Honestly, I forget about this board because the other one I pointed you to is so much more active.

How were your numbers for last week?? Maybe you can surprise your dr and sister and get lucky this time! I will take heed from you and all the other ladies and not wait too long to get help from and Re if we don't get pg naturally this fall.

I was just at my family reunion in Kenton Ohio this weekend (I live in Illinois), and was talking to my cousins wife who just had to terminate a pg at 4 1/2 months due to monosomy 13, which means the baby didn't have both 13th chromosomes, only 1. The baby had 0% chance to live even if they went full term... it had no brain developement whatsoever. What a decision to have to make. And they decided to have the testing done just on a whim because it would be covered by insurance... So my m/c at 11 weeks was not as bad as what some have gone through.

I will look for "Robin" or "Yorkiemommy" on the other board, it would be faster and easier to communicate with you that way, that board is set up much better than this one.

I entered you email into my address book, mine is BonBon_Duncan@hotmail.com

Looking forward to "buddying up"

WEll, my Dr says that even though it took us a while to conceive, we did get pg w/o any help, so we should be able to do it on our own. If we don't get any results by the New Year, them we will see an RE.

We weren't "trying", but we weren't preventing either. We just didn't think about it at all. They say you need to be relaxed, and I guess we were. I'm not so sure we wil be relaxed next time. I am waiting for my cycle (AF) to start again, but it hasn't yet. Dr says it could be up to 2 months from when I had m/c, which was on 7/01.

Good luck to you... I am usually on the other ttc over 40 board http://www.network54.com/Hide/Forum/246423 it is a very active board, and an easier one to use. This board seems to go in spurts. If you look on that board we have had 2 recent positive preg. tests (BFP), so it does happen. Keep a positive attitude!
