Ugh. Woke up at 4 am with awful backache and (TMI alert) gush of dark brown blood. Went to doc at 7 for ultrasound. Bean is still there and looking good. Doc says it might be m/c, might not, and to come back on 9/13 unless I start serious bleeding. This is a nightmare. Trying to stay optimistic but it's hard.

Susan, just try to keep yourself as relaxed as much as you can. I'm assuming bed rest was advices? Both my pregnancies in my 20s I experienced spotting up to the end of the 1st trimester.
I know that with my DS waiting those 2weeks for the follow up appointment were the most stressful.

Susan CB - this sounds extremely encouraging. I think you are fine and it might have been just one of the eggs that failed to implant. Enjoy Vermont!

Hi!

I just wanted to tell you that the same thing happened to me once, when I was 6 weeks, I woke up to brown blood POURING out into the toilet (sorry-tmi). I had just m/c'd a few months prior, so I thought for sure I was losing another one. But, I went in for an ultrasound only to see a little baby with leg/arm buds and a beautiful beating heart. It turned out to be a subchorionic hematoma. I never had bleeding again...and she's now 5 years old! :)

I'm glad to hear that the bleeding stopped....that's definitely good news!
