So I started my surge last night and my doc wants to do an iui today...do I tell her that I had sex yesterday? I didn't think I'd surge for another 36ish hours. So do I go ahead w/ the iui anyway? I've read various things on the internet about how long to abstain for prior to iui and some docs don't have them abstain at all. DH has no sperm problems...

I kinda want to just go for it and see what we get. Thoughts?

JeAnne,

The rule of thumb for a medicated monitored IUI is 36 hours.

Jeanne,
I don't have any idea, since I've not been in your shoes, but just wanted to say Good Luck and I'm so excited for you!

It's not medicated or monitored :) Just natural iui. Although I imagine she'll do a US to see how my lining is doing and how my follie is. Adding an iui this cycle just b/c its the one thing my insurance pays for. It's just a little extra insurance over the regular ole' bding. I just didn't want to waste it if it's been too soon to have a decent amount of good swimmers, kwim? But I'm going to do it anyway. DH has already dropped off his sample (collected at work no less, I kid you not. That just brings up so many hystercial scenarios I don't know even know where to begin). We'll see what they say when I get there.

way to go, DH!

I think mine is going to have to drive 3 hours, do the deed, then drive back in a month or so....!

Jeanne, I know I am jumping in late, but I think you made the right decision in going for it.

Well, we only had a few million sperm b/c we had bd'd so soon before that. She likes 10 million, however, she did say they were good quality :) Plus we have been bding and we'll do it again in the am (giving the boys a rest tonight) so we're pretty covered. Who knows, but it was a pretty easy process. My surge started very early this morning/late last night, so we probably shouldn't have even iui'd until tomorrow morning, but who knows, Im not stressing about it. It will be what it will be.

DH did ask me to time it better next time, lol. He wasn't thrilled (plus he had to drive 40 minutes to immediately drop the sample off. he's a good husband ;)
