Cathy -

I'm so very sorry to hear your news, I had feared the worst when I got on this morning and saw no news.

You really are truly an amazing woman and any child will be lucky to call you Mom - I don't know anyone who's adopted through Guatamala but I do know 2 sets of Chinese twins and a beautiful girl from Ukraine.

Please stay around as long as you feel up for it - you are an amazing source of information and a wealth of support.

Thanks for taking care of us all!

And lots of hugs for you and your DH.

Dear Cathie,

I am so very sorry that this cycle did not work. You must be going through so much heartache, and I know words can not help. I just want you to know that you are a truly amazing person and should do whatever it is to ease your pain. You will be missed terribly here, if you decide to leave, but know that you must do whatever may help you.

Please know you are in my prayers...

I know of one woman who was very close to adopting a child from Guatemala, but at the last minute her plans changed. I will ask her and post as soon as I get any pertinent information.

Please take care of yourself,

I'm so sorry to hear your news. You truly are a great supporter and resource for all of us - my heart goes out to you and your husband. I don't know of anyone who adopted from Guatemala, but I do know of several people who have adopted from Russia, the Ukraine, and through private U.S. adoption attorneys - all great results for all involved. There are so many children out there in need of loving nurturing parents and one of those children will be lucky to call you all Mom and Dad.

Dear Cathie,

I am so very sorry to hear your sad news. My heart truly goes out to you, I cannot imagine the pain and heartache you must be feeling. You give so much of yourself to everyone here, you so deserved to have good news last week. I want to try to say something comforting, but I know there is nothing one can say, other than that which has already been said in other postings: that you are an amazing woman, a wonderful resource and source of support, and your presence here is very much appreciated by myself and everyone else here. You will be such a wonderful mother, your child will be so lucky to have such a loving and giving person as his/her mother. I wish I could give you information on adoption in Guatamala, but unfortunately I don't know anything; so all I can do is wish you the best of luck. Thank you for being here for me.

Cathy, I am so sorry for your loss. I was reading the posts, and I got the overwhelming feeling that your baby is already conceived and growing someplace in the world. You will have him in your arms sooner than you even realize. Adoption is not failure, adoption is bringing a child into your home by choice. What a wonderful gift to be "chosen." There are many reasons that life unfolds as it does, perhaps for you, you were created just for this moment, to complete your family through adoption.

Take time to grieve, be gentle with yourself and your DH, and please know that the "game" is not over, it has just switched fields!! May you recieve the same hope and grace that you have given to all of us 10x over!! Thanks you for all of your commitment to walking us through our painful paths. I hope that you stick around for as long as you are able, we would miss you very very much.

Best of luck to you

I have friends that adopted a girl from Guatemala last year and I know another couple that are in the process right now. I have a lot of friends that have adopted and my husband and I are going to adopt too eventually. It's amazing to think that your child could be waiting for you right now :) I can give you a lot of good links for adoption and also put you in touch with ones who have gone through the process in Guatemala. I'm praying for you right now as you make closure in one area and a whole new area opens up for you. You can email me at

I have not been on this board for a long time as I was lucky enough to get pg, but wanted to check in and see how everyone was doing. I am so sorry to hear your news. I realize there is nothing I can say to make it different - just know that I am thinking of you.

I personally was adopted and had wonderful parents and a great upbringing. I was lucky to have the family I was adopted into, and your child will be lucky, too!

I hope to hear your news in the future, and I wish you and your DH all the best. You have certainly been a great support to everyone on this board.

I'm a lurker here--long story about why I'm here and all, but just wanted to let you know that I have three internationally adopted children, two from Vietnam (now closed) and a beautiful little boy (now 2) from Guatemala. The process was very smooth and Gabriel is the most wonderful little boy in the world. I wish I could post a picture. If you would like to contact me offline my email is
