Stupid to try again?

Hi, I'm 41. I have 3 girls 17, 15 and 2. Last year DH and I decided to try again. After 9 months of TTC we got pregnant. Unfortunatly, I miscarried 2 weeks ago at 14 weeks. We are heartbroken, but now we need to decide if we want to try again.

The Dr. seemed to think this was just a fluke and that we should have no problem next time. I'm finding it hard to believe that all my eggs have degenterated to the point that we will never be sucessful again since I had a healthy baby 2 years ago. But DH is real nervous about trying again. I know he's still hurting as I am too. But the clock is ticking if we want to try again. So would we be stupid to try again?

TIA, Terri

I am so sorry about your m/c. My heart goes out to you and your family.

I wouldn't feel that your eggs have degenerated either since you gave birth a short time ago. Have you had the blood test on cd=3? Have you been charting your BBT? Does your bbt go up a few days after ovulating? Have you been testing with opk to determine if you had the lh surge so this way you know the optimal time to bd?

Take care,

Terri: Very sorry to hear about your loss. My deepest sympathies to you and your family.

It is definitely reasonable to try again...especially since you just were able to get pregnant. The chance of miscarriage is greater for women over 40 than for younger women...but there are women over 40 giving birth every day to happy & healthy babies.

It's possible your dh is just worrying about you. It's hard sometimes for our guys to admit stuff like that. Hoping this all works out for you...take good care. And again, sorry for your loss.

Hi Terri,

I am so very sorry to hear of your loss. I know it is devastating. I don't see any reason why you shouldn't try again. Women a lot older than you have had healthy babies.

We will keep you in our prayers.

Thanks for the encouragment. We haven't decieded yet, but I think DH is starting to think about trying again. I know it was hard on him. I had never seen him cry like that before. And I know the fact that I almost bled to death doesn't help. But I'm not ready to give up the dream. KWIM?

Thanks, Terri

I'm 42, MC in 5-04, DH and I am trying again. It's heartbreaking and risky, I have been told at 42 I have a 50/50 chance at MC with any PG. But bottom line is ...... we want a baby! We can do the leg work, the rest is up to God :)
