Waiting to Ovulate March 2012

Share with others how you get through the "wait to O" period of your cycle. For some this is a short wait and can sometimes catch us off guard but for others with a long cycle, it can be a frustrating wait.

thanks for your 'rant' Mel...it makes me feel better that I am not a freak of nature, for not getting a +.....yes, I read all thru the POAS.com website, as part of my research for doing these things.....now that you stated, the info. on the consentration level of the different test sticks....on the day before O'd, there WAS a faint 2nd line (the only time I saw the faint line, but it was never as dark as control fine, but the only time there was a 'hint' of a 2nd line), but not present enough for my digi container to give me a 'smiley face'.....now, I question, if my digi container not give me a +, because (clumsy me) dropped it, the day before?

So, it kinda makes sense why I didn't get a +......but, yes, OPK's are way too confusing and stressful, for me!

Hey KiKi-This whole OPK thing has been driving me crazy. I have been searching the web and my old lab books to try and determine why my cheap Internet strips are coming up almost as dark as the line/or just as dark as the line but when I test with a CBE digis there is no smiley face. This happened to me my last cycle and I did finally get 1 out of the 4 digis to come up positive, but when I looked at the strip, it was only a hair darker then the negative digi strips. My O was confirmed by DPO7 progesterone test. So I think that I finally know the answer! So the cheap Internet strips can detect LH in the urine at around 20 IU/L. The CBE digis will not disclose their detection level, but from all my research into industry standards, the detection level is probably 40 IU/L. The normal range for an LH surge is between 20UI/L and 60 UI/L ( but it can be even higher). The problem with urine tests is that they do not always corrilate closely with blood levels because there are so many factors, like how long since your last void, how much salt you have eaten, and how much you have had to drink. Also, everyone clears LH into their urine at a different rate depending on their blood levels and how well their kidneys work. So, basically, what this means is that you can have a LH surge that causes ovulation, but that is never concentrated enough in the urine to cause a positive on the OPKs with a sensitivity of 40 UI/L. This is why you and I never got a positive digi and why my Internet strips look positive. Also, on the POAS.COM website under OPK oddessy, she shows that sometimes the Internet cheapies do not become darker that the control line even though the LH level is above the 20 UI/L detection threshold. I think it has to do with how much dye is added. Finally, I feel like I am not crazy, and that I can stop stressing about this. Thanks for letting me rant. Sorry about the one big paragraph, but I can't make new paragraphs when posting on my Kindle. Mel

OMG, Mel.....I have not gotten a positive, at all & I swear, I already O'd.....because of my CM & it happened either last night or early this morning.... I swear it happened, and that would be consistent with my 'usual' O day of CD11!! And using the CBE digi, two to three times a day, the last few days....it didn't give me even a 'hint' of a positive!! I waited to test 2 p.m., held my pee & tested again about 10 pm, one day, yesterday, I tested 10am, 2 pm, & 10 pm.

But, DF & I couldn't wait anymore for a positive OPK, so we just BD'd on Friday night, anyway....I mean, we are not really TTCing yet.....but I'm glad that I tested the OPK's, because they don't work for me AND yes, they made me a little looney!!!

CD-18 and still no positive OPK. :smileyfrustrated: For the last 2 days the wondfo tests are almost positive which is so frustrating! I keep thinking that the next one will be positive and then it just looks the same. I have even been retesting with a CBE digi and those are neg, but not by much. Come on body...go ahead and O already!!! DH is going out of town Tuesday-Thursday, so I keep praying something happens before then.

KiKi- you are getting so close to the wedding day. Yah!!!! I hope you finally got a pos OPK. I keep telling myself that the next cycle I won't do all this stuff, but the next cycle comes and I find myself temping, doing OPKs 3x a day, and checking cervical fluid and position all the time.lol. TTC can make you crazy.

Michele-BOO on AF and those crazy cycles. I hope you get a peak reading this month.

Vickie- I can't beleive you haven't tested!!! your chart looks amazing.

Sharon- Hang in there. I know that your Bday is coming up. 41 is not old. I hope that you find peace with whatever you decide to do.

CD 4, picked up some evening primrose at Walmart today... it wasn't on my list but what the heck, I'll give anything a shot. I was going to get some Zinc for DH in case his counts are still low (he was told after an accident years ago that his counts were low) not sure if that is a permanent situation or not... Assumed it was. Anyway, someone told me Zinc helps increase the number of spermies... couldn't find any though, that damn vitamin isle is a nightmare. Hoping this is my month but I will certainly take anyone of you getting a BFP as a very strong second place :) tons of baby dust to all :)

You said you were trying the CBEFM didn't you or that you were going to try? I find them sooooo much easier than opk and I use Opk still to verify, but I don't use the afternoon urine I still use the same as I use for the CBEFM which is morning urine. I have a caught a + a few times with the OPK's coincinding with the CBEFM. You will get it! I know there are people that all they use are CBEFM and OPK or just the CBEFM and they seem to like just doing that. I am so regemented I really like doing all of it :) I'm a nut case though ;) Can't wait until you get married! It is then, game on, is it not??? Hope you wedding goes off flawlessly. hugs :) P.S. you are adorable!!! Love your pic.

You still have time to O this cycle. It could be that this cycle is when you return to normal. Remember too though, that without charting you may not know how long of an LP you have and in a 25 day cycle with a 12 day LP you wouldn't O until CD 13. You will get your cycles figured out though. Do you check CM and CP? They are good indicators that impending O may be lurking. Just keep testing- this is the best test of patience (but I still haven't learned to gracefully get through a cycle)

You were smart to start testing early to get the hang of it. If there are no issues with sperm count, it will be okay to "relieve" DF- just so he doesn't get pouty like my hubby does!
