43 and one week late...negative test

I'm 43, and my period is a week late. I took a pregnancy test (an early one) and it came out negative. I did not use FMU. Last year I lost our baby boy at 19 weeks. He was born still. A few months later I became pregnant again, and lost that baby at 8 1/2 weeks (a blighted ovum). We have not used bc in the last six months, and my periods are usually pretty regular -- sometimes 2-4 days late, but never 7 days late.

So, my question is -- what could cause me to miss my period if I'm not pregnant? I do have some symptoms, but I've thought so before and AF shows up. So, that doesn't necessarily mean anything. Could I be going through the change of life?

Hi Beth
Any news? Has AF arrived? A BFN on a HPT is not a done deal! If AF is not here, call your OB/GYN for a blood test. And even if you are perimenapausal, you could still be pregnant. Best wishes! Debra

Beth, I haven't met you before but I"m dying to know what happened. Can you share with us? You know we will send hugs whatever the news is.

Hey Beth, How did things turn out? I'm on CD35, still no BFP. I'll wait until after day 56, then try again. (I'm 45, perimenapausal) Debra

This is a very weird cycle for me! I started to bleed 9 days after my period was due, but it wasn't a normal period -- it was heavy at first with lots of lower back cramps. Then I passed a huge clot which made me think placenta -- so I wonder if I miscarried? Then it just abruptly ended! My period usually lasts 6-7 days -- this one lasted 3 days. So, I don't know what to think. I did hear of a woman miscarrying a twin and still being pregnant with the other twin! But I can't bring myself to test. I just don't think I could handle the disappointment if it was negative. This coming Sunday marks the 1 year anniversary of the birth of our stillborn son (I was 19 weeks pregnant). I have lost 3 babies in 12 months. :-(

I'll come back and post if I find out I am pregnant. But at this point, I think probably I am not.

Thanks for your interest! And many blessings to you all -- I hope you all get your big positives soon!

Blessings,

Beth
