Hi all,

I was wondering if anyone personally knows of any woman who got pg in her 40's without assistance? Was it her first pg? Was there anything about that particular woman that stood out, like she was particularly active or athletic or a healthy eater?

I know women in the 40's who got pg, but I am not sure if they had assistance. I don't know them well enough to ask.

Thanks,

Barbara

Hi again, When we got PG at 39, it was our second month of trying and we BD ONE time! Can you believe that! I had weaned our older DD a few months earlier, we weren't totally committed to trying again yet, but it was the ONE AND ONLY time in my life when I wasn't on something to try to make it happen when I had real EWCM. I said to DH "Now's the time honey" he said he was too tired, I insisted, DD arrived. It was a sort of miracle. As to the clomid recently, years ago when we were trying to have DD#1 and were seeing an RE (due to repeat m/c) I got PG (another M/C) on a cycle that was the one after I stopped clomid. So I knew the cycle after might be a good one for me, clomid is fat soluble and some of it stays in your body affecting another cycle or two. So, this time after trying 6 months, we did one month of clomid and then took a month off and that was the month I got PG, but it was a blighted ovum. This month right now is a post clomid month too, we are waiting with fingers crossed. Good luck!

I conceived my third child naturally at age 43. My dh and I have two other children ages 17 and 20 years old. After numerous medical problems over the years, we thought we couldn't have any more children although we always wanted more. Since we are strong Catholics, we have not used any birth control and just placed things in God's hands.

Our older children were thrilled to find out that we were expecting our little miracle baby. Little John-Paul was born on May 27, 2004 and he is the greatest blessing!

Yes, I did. I got pregnant at age 43 and 2months naturally. I had been on the pill for years. I was married for the second time and we decided we wanted a family so I stopped the pill in November 2001 and got pregnant in February 2002. I had a beautiful baby boy in October 2002. He was a month early because I developed H.E.L.L.P. syndrome, but he was fine and is now a wonderful 19 month old. I have been trying to concieve again since he was 3 months old, without luck. we are starting to look into fertility help now, I am 45 and my hubby is 47..

GOOD LUCK IT CAN HAPPEN

Me! I had my first when I was almost 40, the second when I was almost 43. Working on a third, now.

I have many friends who had their first after 40, too.

I can't say that much stands out about my friends or me, health-wise. Except that no one really thinks, or dwells on their age. Oh, and I have a lot of women in my family who had babies until 50!

Hello,

A good friend of mine is 40 and pregnant now. This is her third pregnancy. She is not athletic at all and doesn't eat any particular way. She was ttc #3 for 18 months and was going to try clomid and found out she was pregnant. She also has a bone disease. (I forget the name of it) Nothing fatal, but on meds for it. An old neighbor of mine was also pregnant at 42 with no assistance! There is hope for us!!!!!!!!!!!!

Best of luck,

Hi-

I'm an alum of this board and occasional lurker. I got PG naturally at 42 and had my one and only DD last Aug. just after my 43 birthday. I did have a m/c at 5 weeks about 9 months before my successful pregnancy.

Nothing exceptional about me except that I've been a vegetarian for 18 years. I was/am about 20 lbs. overweight.

My great grandmother had her last baby at 42 so maybe it's somewhat genetic.

God's blessings and baby dust to you all!

Well I am graduated happilly and naturally from this board. I did buy and use the fertility monitor but other than that it was all natural. Well, now thatI remember my doctor did an u/s when I started to ttc and decided to remove a fibroid from my uterus but that was just a precaution.

My quick story is this... I was never PG or TTC until 38.5. I got PG at 39Y 1MO. That was a natural fraternal twin PG (they run in my family). Sadly, we lost one twin at 6 weeks, but the other went on to be a healthy 8 month baby. She is now 3 years old and one of the tallest and strongest in her age group. I was practicing NFP and breastfeeding, but I took a risk on day 6 of my cycle and got PG again 7 months after she was born. That one ended in early m/c. We started trying again when I was 41Y 1MO. I got PG 4 months later but that ended in another early m/c within 2 weeks. My body did not seem to take a break, I ovulated 10 days later and to my huge surprise got another +ve test two weeks after that. That baby made it all the way to term plus one week. She might have gone longer but I finally cracked and took the induction. She is now a very healthy and happy 10 month baby, born when I was 42 Y 2 MO. I'm calling it quits at two.

Hi Bopsie (I gotta ask- were you into the song "Girls just want to have fun" in the 80's -I always get this mental image of u when I see your call sign dancing away to that song!)

Yes, me !- as described on my post re BFP I just cut out everything nasty - ie caffeine ( go decaf only), booze (sob) and also went on the chinese herbs (boiled). I think this last is a big thing as I know a few other success stories....

I also had a shot of wheat grass, and took folic, vit e and Q10 tablets daily ( still continuing).

Baby dust coming your way!!
