Hi,
I was wondering if there is anything my dh could do to increase our chances of ttc. He is 43 and a former smoker. I have heard vit C is essential if you are a smoker but not sure if that would pertain to him. I am looking for natural ideas only. He had a sperm analysis about 15 yrs ago and everything checked out then. I know he wouldn't want to do it again so I am looking into vitamins and such. Thanks for any info.

Hi, I unfortunately don't know much about this...but are you sure he won't get tested again? Chances are, his boys might be fine the way they are! I do know that the docs say for men to wear looser underwear and pants...so if he's wearing briefs now, maybe you can get him to switch to boxers...

Good luck!

Lois

I've also heard about the boxer shorts and anything else that avoids heat(hot tubs, etc). Also heard of bd'ing every other day in order for higher sperm count(only necessary if that is the problem). Every other day will still make sure that sperm is always available to egg as it is released slowly from your anatomy, as well. I have heard that drinking caffeine can make the little swimmers swim faster but that was in reference to trying to have a son.

Good luck,
Erin

As for vitamins and nutritional supplements that can help, you can have him take a multivitamin, selenium, zinc, vit c, vit e, lycopene, acetyl-l-carnitine, l-carnitine, co q10, and pycnogenol. These can all help improve sperm, you can search on pubmed for studies. If you are willing to try herbs black maca may be helpful as well.
