Hello everyone,

I posted here about two months ago.

I am 40 and trying for the first time. Long story, but I suffered from chronic migraines and I could not even think about having a child until my migraines stopped. They only stopped about 5 months ago.

Hi Gen and welcome back.

I tried to reply to you last night but I had a connection problem, maybe it's fixed now. I totally understand the stress. I am 7 dpo today and I want to be pregnant soooo bad. I know it is too early to test and I feel helpless as I wait the days out.

Hi Gen,
I know exactly how you feel! I was 39 when started TTC, and I was 40 when I got pregnant. The best advice I can offer you is to get yourself to an RE. I did, and I was so thankful. I got pregnant with our son the second month of TTC with our RE. I took 100 mg of clomid on CD 3-7 and did two IUIs. The second one worked, and now our precious son is almost two. Had I not gone to an RE, I never would've known I had a uterine polyp, never would've gotten that out, and probably would never have gotten pregnant. Just don't wait around and keep TTC on your own. I would strongly encourage you to get to a doc. Sometimes all we need is a little extra help!

My period still has not started and I am about 3 days late. However, I tend to sometimes have irregular periods.

Hia i know exactly how you feel as i am 43 and still TTC!! Afraid to tell people even family as they may think i am ridiculous or selfish or...whatever. Every month that there is a disappointment when my period arrives i think why oh why am i torturing myself like this!!

I know exactly how you feel. I concentrated on my education and obtaining my degrees, so I put starting a family on the back burner. Now that I'm 40 and I am with the most wonderful man, we want to start a family together (he already has 3 grown boys) We have been TTC for the past year without success. I just completed my second cycle with an RE which has been very promising. I have a history of hypothyroidism and low progesterone. What your feeling is very common. Every month is so emotional..the waiting sometimes can be excruciating. What I've learned the past year is that sometimes you have to not stress.. It's having faith and enjoying the process..Hang in there and know there are many like you. Vent whenever you feel the need.

I also keep my TTC plans from my family and closest friends. (Oddly I have shared with my hair stylist and other peripheral people instead.) -Pix

Yes, I am 41 and am going through the same thing. You don't want to tell anyone because you're afraid that they will think you're ridiculous and what they might say. Plus, as you say, I'm thinking that I don't want to have to explain myself if it doen't work out. I am constantly going through an emotional rollercoaster, and just talk about my feelings with my husband.
