I was on the TTC After 35 board for many years. Finally conceived when I was 40.5 and gave birth at 41 to a healthy and beautiful boy (my first). Don't give up hope!
Two things that (I believe) triggered this baby to stick (I'd had a number of chemical pregnancies in the 1-2 years prior): In the 2 months before I conceived I was on WW and lost 20lbs (I was probably 40lbs overweight at the time). Second, I'd read an article about the father's cigarette smoking causing defective sperm. The article stated that if a man smokes 15+ cigarettes a day, his sperm was 200% more likely to be defective and thereby cause miscarriages. I was horrified by this as my husband smoked about a pack a day at that time. I asked him to cut back to 10 a day, which he did, and within 6 weeks I was pg. Coincidence? Maybe, but I choose not to think so. Also, he still smokes 10 or less a day so it was WIN/WIN as far as I'm concerned!
Best of luck to you all,
Kristen, 43-year-old mom to 2-year-old Ryan
