Fertility Aid - Instead Softcups??

Hi all,
I saw this online and wondered if you have heard of this. The reviews sort of astounded me. So many couples that have been TTC long-term were PG in a month with these.
I am reluctant to keep spending money on all these gadgets and tests and such but the reviews seemed convincing.
What are your thoughts??

I used these for the first time this cycle and they were a huge irritant! I am praying I don't end up with an infection. Not a fan!!! (Well, if I get a BFP I will be but for now, not a fan!)

On the FF site, there are a few women who have used these and have conceived. I tried them this cycle so time will tell. It is less than pleasant getting them out but what the hey, all in the name of ttc right? I asked how long to keep them in? I was told, by one lady who is currently pg, to keep them in for the maximum time of 12 hours. I didn't keep mine in that long but I did for 8 hours. I think it's worth a shot.

We used them after BD. I still laid there with my hips up; but, before I got up to walk around, we put the cup in. I left it there for hours. You can't feel it once it's in.

Paula,
How did you use them? Did you insert after BD? Did he ejaculate in you or in the cup itself? Hope it isn't too personal to ask.

Hi! Ruth is right, I did use the instead cups. I don't know if they helped; but I do know I conceived twice while using them. :) Since there is no real risk in using them, I don't see any reason not to try them. Good luck!!

I have never used these as a conception aid but I do use them when AF is here. I can TOTALLY see how they would assist with the lil swimmers. This may be TMI but when I am on my period, my DH and I have intercourse with the cups IN and there is NO MESS (except the mess he makes). He says that most of the time, he cant even feel the cup. That being said, I can see the benefits if you were to insert while still in bed. I think it would eliminate the need to lay there for 20 minutes. Insertion is very easy and once in, you don't feel them. Removal, when used for period, can be a little gross but the small amount of seminal fluid shouldn't be too bad. As for the act of removing them, Its easy and I'm pretty sure most of us TTCers have our fingers stuffed much further in our vajayjays daily checking CP and CM. If I decide to TTC another month (if this cycle was unsuccessful) then I will probably add them to my to do list since I already have them in my arsenal.

I'd have to re-google to find that again.

Interesting, Susan. Where was this posted? I'm interested in checking out the article.

I get the impression that the author of the excerpt you posted is referring to what happens to the sperm once they have actually entered the uterus. But the softcups seem to aid in helping the sperm get through the cervix opening.

Toni Weschler states in "Taking Charge of Your Fertility" that, while lying with the hips propped on a pillow after IC may help in this process, for some it may hinder--that is that the hips may be too elevated so that the sperm ends up pooling around behind the neck of the cervix rather than right at the opening. It is here where it appears the softcups might help. I don't know...I may be over-analyzing (not the first time!!!). I think I may still try them this month. I'm on the fence...

I'm not sure these softcups are worth it.

Thanks Ruth!!

So can you elaborate on this:

" I put BD in quotes because DH had some challenges with finishing during BD, so we would do a kind of at-home IUI."

I ask because I am wondering if the chances of conception were higher for couples who had the man ejac. into the cup outside of the woman first or for couples who had full-on ICto the finish and then put the cup in the hold the swimmers in place.

I have a feeling my DH will not want to have any part of ejaculating into a cup unless a Dr. instructs him to do so!! But then again, as each month of TTC gets more challenging, who knows what types of issues may arise (or not be able to, um, rise??? ;))

Thanks again :)!
