I had my first IUI today

I am excited :-) I will be 40 in June and I am hoping this one will be successful (and I know it is not guaranteed). Considering my age, the doctor is not hopeful of this first one actually being successful. He said a few weeks back that my ovaries need to show a little more stimulation and my eggs are not as large as they could be. My largest egg with today's IUI was probably about 17/18 mm. It was 15mm this past Tuesday. The next largest I had was maybe 14/15 mm. The other two were smaller.

I have a wonderful support group of family and friends that have been keeping me strong and positive throughout all of this.

That is so exciting Beth! My doctors were very discouraged with my second IUI (years ago) because I was having an allergic reaction to the Repronex injectibles and I had developed hives all over my torso. We went ahead with the IUI just because we were out of money and that was going to be the last cycle for a while, but the doctors said the eggs were not as developed as they wanted. Lo and behold, two weeks later, I found out I was pregnant with my first little boy! Everyone was amazed Perhaps the same thing will happen with you!! Oh, we went ahead and BD the day after IUI as well--you never know! Best of luck! Krista

Hi Beth. I wanted to welcome you to the board and tell you I am very excited that you are doing the IUI process. I will be keeping my fingers crossed that it was a success. Sorry I haven't been around to reply but hopefully I can get back to the board daily and keep up with everyone's posts. Feel free to jump into any of the threads and chat or vent. That is what we are here for. Be sure to keep us posted on any symptoms you may be experiencing.

Congrats on your first IUI. I had a successful IUI back in December 2010. I was 39 when I delivered. After jumping through tons of hoops, the reproductive endocrinologist agreed I could try again. I had my first IUI this time on Thursday. The doctor wasn't very confident since I'm 41 and required two rounds of clomid this month. I'll keep my fingers crossed for you! Donna
