I've only been an occasional lurker until now, but I could really use some advice at this point.
Here's a little background on me: First pregnancy was in 2006 at age 37. Got pregnant on the third try, but m/c'd at 10 weeks. Had trouble conceiving again, so I got the CD3 tests 8 months later with a devastating FSH score of 18.3. (The retest the next month came in at 3.5, though.) Anyway, the RE wasn't sure there was any hope for me but suggested I try injectables for a few months. The cycle just before starting the injectables we got pregnant on our own with our son.
Fast forward to last October. Now age 40, on my fourth cycle after getting AF back (I nursed for 1 year), we got pregnant on our own. M/c at 5 weeks. Got pregnant again immediately and m/c at 8 weeks. Got pregnant again immediately (I am not making this up) and m/c at 4.5 weeks.
Now we're back with the RE to look into the recurrent miscarriage issue. He suggested redoing the CD3 tests, and I just got the FSH result: 23.5!
What the heck? Given all the times we actually got pregnant on our own, I just kind of figured that 18.3 number was a mistake, but apparently it wasn't. But I just don't understand how to reconcile that number with the pregnancies. Were those just total flukes? Will I ever get pregnant again? Should we be more aggressive? Or should I just ignore the FSH number and keep doing what we've been doing? Should I think about DHEA?
Oh, one more thing, both times that I got the high FSH scores I was under enormous pressure at work and really stressed. Could that affect the test?
Sigh. Sorry this is so long, thanks to anyone who made it this far and has any wisdom or experiences to share!
