Hi citypixie!!!

I too am 41, TTC baby #1 and have been given a clean bill of health....I'm on no meds except I do go to weekly acupuncture for fertility and take Chinese herb capsules. I am also nervous and anxious and neurotic so you are in fine company here!!!! ;)

Just wanted to wish you all the best and look forward to reading more of your posts!!

Just curious--what are you having done at the fertility specialist? I was told to TTC and then if I'm not PG by the end of the summer to begin testing.

Best wishes!

Hey Pixie

Welcome. We are all neurotic to some extent. How can you not be when trying to have a baby at 40+. Good news is...you are not alone.

Hi and welcome! I think we all kind of have to be a bit neurotic to be TTCing at this point in our lives, since it can be so challenging! Sounds to me like you have a great doctor, and I would say that is you aren't totally comfortable with the fertility specialist, then go back to your obgyn right away. Time can certainly be precious at this point, but don't let it pressure you. Really. I had my second bio-child just a few weeks before I turned 40, and my only unassisted conception/birth when I was 42! And no worries about being incognito around here, there are a lot of us that are TTCing and no one in RL knows, ourselves included. Which is a large reason why I come here, it is the only place I can talk about it all besides with my husband.

Welcome, CityPixie! You've certainly come to the right place. Like you, I was married for a long time before we decided to TTC. I had all sorts of rules -- we'll only try until I'm 40, we won't go to a fertility specialist, we won't do IVF... and here I am on IVF #2. I've had lots of procedures -- lots -- and really, it hasn't been that bad. I'm pretty neurotic too but I've managed to survive! You can do it (though I hope your road will be easier than mine).

Good luck with your endeavors and keep us posted (KUP in board-speak).

Ha, Pix, I totally get it. We're not telling any family members, either. If ithis IVF is successful the kid's gotta be OK with living in the office of our 800 square foot apartment for a while!

41 is definitely not too late. I had my first child at 21 and second child at 23. I had my tubes cut. I had them repaired at age 41. I conceived a beautiful baby girl at 41 and delivered her at 42. I am going to be 43 in a month and am TTC one more time before we shut the factory down. :)

One thing I wonder, though... if you are so incredibly stressed out by doctors, you might reconsider the fertility doctor.. just thinking it sounds like it might be more harm than good if you haven't even tried to conceive yet.

Either way.. best of luck!!!
