Been TTC at 44 for the past 3 months after having had MC/DC a year ago at 7 weeks. This month breasts have enlarged and remained so, temp. has remained elevated, slight head ache, back ache, slight cramping but not like menstruation; had very slight spotting 8 days after ovulation lasting one day. My periods have always been super regular and should have started 2 days ago. Home urine test showed faint positive 2 days ago. Today same type test showed negative. Can't get to see or speak to doctor until tomorrow. Any thoughts? Could I be pregnant or is it already overwith? Thanks

I decided to take things into my own hands and get a blood test. It came out pos. at 390 mcg. - normal. I then went to see a gynecologist who did an ultrasound- nothing could be seen yet, but she said everything seemed normal and did not want to start me on progesterone. The same evening- yesterday- I started having a reddish-brown colored (but like blood) discharge. I was told to rest. Today I still have it, maybe more reddish.

Has anyone ever had this happen and gone on to have a normal pregnancy? Is there anything to do? Thanks

Hi,

You may have experienced implantation failure or a very early M/C. The best thing to do is have some basic blood work done like day 3 FSH testing & also some testing of your cervix, tubes & uterus would be helpful @ this time. The tests you should ask for are a hysterosalpingogram, a hysteroscopy & a saline sonsogram.

This is the best palce to start. it is also a good idea if your DH gets an SA.

Anything I can do to help I am just a post away.

Thanks for the advice. Unfortunately I live in a country with socialized medicine and I doubt if I'll get the doctor to prescribe these tests! It is also considered fairly strange to ttc (or want to) after 40, so it's not like they really want to help you. The good news is that the colored discharge and cramping stopped after a few hours and the gyn. decided to have me take progesterone and see how things develop (or not). I am hopeful, but not too much. Thanks again.

Just to follow up- after a week of taking progesterone I just don't feel pregnant anymore. My family doctor (I couldn't reach my gynecologist) had me do another HCG blood test. It was only 447 (was 390 a week ago). My gyn. agreed that it's probably finished but wants to verify tomorrow with an ultrasound. This is the second pregnancy lost at the beginning in the past year. What tests should I do to try to avoid it happening again if there is something to do? Thanks.

Writing just in case someone's following my story here. Despite having my HCG level go up very little, my doc wanted to confirm the situation with ultrasound. There was change from last week (4 wks) what could be the sac could be seen. She wants me to continue prog. and do another ultrasound in a week. I'm not really hopeful, but one does want to be. Living a sort of limbo is not pleasant. I would really enjoy hearing from someone who has had a similar experience. Thanks
