Little Bit of Good News Today

When I had gone for a HSG the radiologist was not able to get the dye in at all. Not that it went in so far, and then was blocked - he wasn't able to get it in at all. This led him to believe I had a congenital uterine defect, and they sent me for an MRI to look at my uterus. I've been really worried over the results. Well, the results came back today, and my uterus is normal!!! My gut feeling told me that it was all along, but this stupid MRI was taking a long time to get results back. Anyway, now the doctor said we will do another HSG, but with an RE doing it. See. because of insurance, I had to first go to a regular obgyn and it was covered. I will feel so much better going to an RE, and not only that...doctor said he had to send me to one that is affiliated with this facility. Well, I had done research on who I wanted, and was planning on going to on my own after January (when our insurance changes), and I asked if Dr. Dunn was on their list, because I really wanted this doctor. The doctore said, yes, Dr. Dunn is one of their affiliates! I am so glad about that, because from searching Houston boards, he came recommended as a good RE from a few different sources. So now it is wait for AF this next cycle, then call doc, who will set up a new HSG, and then also see if we will re-do b/w for checking progesterone again. Basically, re-doing everything a second time, except the MRI!!! Still, I am happy MRI results were normal.

Hi, Glad to hear your good news. I'm sure that is a relief. That is so cool that we have the same birthday and hopefully we will both be expecting soon. I go back to see my doctor this month and i'm not sure whats going to happen next. My insurance only pays 50 percent toward infertilty treatments so I know that IVF is not an option for us. I really like my doctor and she has been very supportive but now that 46 is looming before me I hope she won't try to discourage me from trying anymore. I've done alot of Clomid cycles plus using OPK's and i'm just not getting the right time. I may ask about an IUI but i'm not sure if even that is possible at this age. I'm not as concerned about my age as my husband is. He's afraid of the risks to me and the baby. My doctor talked to both of us last spring when I was pregnant and told him that there are alot of tests that can be done early. I think that made him feel a little better. Take care, Robin

Dear Robin:

I am in the same boat as you, that insurance has actually paid on the preliminary stuff, but will not pay for IUI or IVF. I know that IUI is not nearly as costly as IVF, but money is an issue for us as well. Keep me posted on how things are going.
