Medical issues PRIOR

I'm 45 and just thinking at this point. Second marriage for us both, but I was high risk with my 2 bio kids. Bed rest w/ 2nd, high BP (runs in my family) and gestenial diabetes - terrible delivery. Both kids are healthy and physically, I'm more fit now then in my 30's, but I do take 2 diff meds for BP which I'll always have. Both meds would have to be changed prior to ever trying.

DH has 2 kids, but one is severe - downs/autism. Btw, that PG was "normal" and he was born the one in a million, not expected. He did have a 2nd healthy baby after.

I was PG 2 yrs ago (surprise) and had a MC @ about 9 weeks. Have not TTC since. At that time, ob/gyn (a high risk one) wanted to tie my tubes and I refused. His concern: my health (BP went up very high/I stopped meds before they had been changed) and he lectured me forever about how we already had 4,look at the possibility of having a baby like your SS, be satisfied, no more feedings etc.

DH and I are now talking about maybe trying. I already know I'd have to be seen prior to this (and yes, a new DR), but I'd like to know what the reaction is that you've dealt with when you announce to the DR that you'd like to try? I ask because 2 yrs ago, everyone there could have been my daughter (age wise) and they were shocked/rude when they found out why I was there. Just curious your thoughts!

My doctor is VERY supportive, and I haven't had any rude comments from other younger women. The only odd thing at all is one office thought I might be my 3 YO's grandma. I was NOT happy about that. I don't have any grandkids yet, but I will be a proud grandma once I do....in about 5 years or so.
