New, am I P or not? What to do?

I'm not sure who to turn to right now (don't want to involve DH yet) so I thought I'd post here. I just turned 40 in April and had my first cycle then after my 1 year old suddenly weaned himself from nursing. I want another child by DH is unsure. I thought I timed things so that we wouldn't be pg this time around but I was due Tues and still no AF. I took a pg test Sunday and it was negative (I thought it'd be cool to find out on Mother's Day although I wasn't sure I was ready to be pg yet). I was fine with that. But still no AF so I took another one today and have what I think is a very faint line. This is my 3rd pregnancy (IF this is one) and I've always had very strong lines before so this is frightening. I had a miscarriage 2 years ago so I'm thinking maybe I am preg but I'm going to lose this one too...

Anyway, I know it's hard to tell from a picture but do YOU think this is a positive or not? And if so, is it a bad indication that the line is so faint?

Looks like a BFP. Dittos the pp's recommendation to get a beta and another 2 days later. That will tell you if the number is doubling normally. Since you don't know when you ovulated, the darkness of the line is not meaningful. Even high betas start off low at some point.

Good luck!

Thanks both of you.
I did call my doctor but he has not called back yet.
I used a dollar store test so I'm going to buy a better one tonight to use in the morning and see how that looks.

I so hope tomorrow's looks better and that this is not one that I'm going to miscarry soon.

So, my doc finally called back and I had my beta yesterday morning. It was 198. I'm doing another one on Monday. So it should at least double plus another half by then right?

I took a more expensive pg test yesterday morning and it was a little darker but still pretty light. I took another dollar store one this morning and it was as faint as the first one.

Still feeling uncertain about the future...

Congratulations! Yes, your beta should double in 2 to 3 days, so as long as it has doubled by Monday you should be good. Try to get it done at the same time of day if you can, although it isn't really necessary it just makes it simpler to figure out. How exciting for you!
