new, and looking for support

Hi, my name is Suzi, and while I'm not new to Ivillage, I am new to this board.
I have been TTC for 4 and 1/2 years. I turned 40 in Aug and my DH is only 28. I have one DS from a previous relationship who is 20. I was DXed pof last year (on my birthday) from the 3rd Dr I had been seeing. I changed to my current one but when my DH got laid off in Jan we lost our income and insurance so I am in limbo right now. Whe me and DH started TTC I said that when I hit 40 I would dtop trying, but I realized that I don't want to stop. It's just been hard with all the "you need to hurry" and "I don't know why you would want to have kids at your age" remarks that I get. I don't feel 40, nor do I look it.
I'm coming to this board for support and help from you. Sometimes I get so discouraged and depressed.
Thanks in advance for everything.

Welcome, and of course you are not too old! I am glad your doctor likes to try to do things naturally first, there are various things that you can do to help with egg supply, one of which is inositol which I have recently been trying. I say as long as you are still wanting to try, they go ahead and try, forget what others say. I hope things go well for you and you don't have to wait much longer.

Sorry, DXed POF is Premature Ovarian Failure, which means my egg supply is practically non-existant. The Dr said I had less than 1% chance of getting pregnant on my own and would need Donor eggs. My FSH was 16 on Day 3 of the clomid thing and 24 on day 10. I haven't had anymore testing from my new Dr because she tried to do things naturally first, before she did IF tests on me. Right when she was going to start those, DH got laid off and we had no income to pay for the testing. I did have (and may still have) a problem with my right ovary, as it swells up to release the egg and then stays swollen for a while. It comes and goes, the last u/s I had, it was not swollen. I also am hypothyroid, and insulin resistant.
Thanks for not telling me I am too old :)
