I am Tammy and new to this board.
Hi, Tammy. I'm on NutriSystem, too. Trying to lose the 12 pounds I gained during my two IVF cycles. LOL! Glad to meet you.
Did your RE say that and extra 18 pounds would be a liabilty for IVF? There are many ladies who have success and are much more overweight than that, some as much as 50 pounds. IMHO as a 43yo IVFer, I would say it's more important to not waste any time at your age. The chances of successful IVF are very low after age 42, so time is of the essence, even once you're past 35.
You might also visit the IVF Support, Advice & Friends board here. There are lots of IVF veterans there, and a few of us are 40+. http://messageboards.ivillage.com/n/mb/listsf.asp?webtag=iv-ppivf&nav=starthttp://messageboards.ivillage.com/n/mb/listsf.asp?webtag=iv-ppivf&nav=start&redirCnt=1
DH and I began TTC my first (his third) after his vasectomy reversal 20 months ago. When nothing was happening after six months, we were referred to an RE and I underwent two cycles of IVF, both of which were canceled due to poor response to meds. They like you to go to retrieval with at least six, but I could never come up with more than two. And with DH's sperm impaired from the vas, IUI isn't an option for us. We've been told that donor eggs are our only hope, but I've decided to seek a second opinion before doing that.
I wish you much luck in your upcoming adventures. IVF can really be a rollercoaster.
I remember you from the clomid board, it didn't work for me, and then after my mc, I knew I would have to do IVF, so I left. The IVF board is so busy and most of them are already or have already done it and I learn a lot, but really feel overwhelmed too!!! this board is kinda slow, but is picking up...keep posting!!!
