New on Boards, 40 and TTC
Wed, 04-13-2005 - 2:01pm

Hi everyone . . . New to these boards. I've been reading other posts on this topic. . . . We've been trying since October. It's frustrating when that period show up right on schedule every month. I did get pregnant back in 2001 but miscarried in the first few weeks.

I'll be 41 in July and my husband is 33. We had him checked and he is fine. . . so it seems like it's all on me. I'm getting frustrated.

I have a child from my first marriage, she's 11 and wants a baby brother so bad, and we would love to give her a brother, or sister. Any thoughts on how you are dealing with this?

I am 41 and me and my husband have been trying for over 1 year off and on. Every month my period came like clock work. This time I am 5 days late. I did a test and it was negative. Any idea how long I should wait to do the next test?

I wish I had an answer for you. I'm not really sure, I guess I'd wait a few more days.

Keeping my fingers crossed for you, Good luck!!

Hi,well I too am new here.I am 42,and have been remarried since Halloween 2002 to a wonderful man.He has never had children of his own, however I have 3 daughters. My husband and I have been with each other for 5 great years, and have been trying to conceive since then. This road we are on isn't an easy one.It has its highs and lows.I get frustrated more and more every day.I just dont think about trying to conceive anymore. That way we both are less stressed. If it happens, then woohoo...great.If it doesn't,then I have to accept it.Good luck in your journey.

Welcome Dianne,

TTC is a stressful journey. Have you talked with a reproductive specialist? It may just be that your hormones are a little out of balance and need some tweaking. Do you know what your FSH and E2 levels are? What steps have you taken this far to acheive pregnancy?

Hi Dianne,

I just had to reply because we are in a similar situation. My DH is almost 30 and I am 41. I have 4 children from my previous marriage 21, 14, 12 and 7. We have one DD together who is 2.5 yrs old. I had her when I was almost 39. We are trying for another one but so far no luck. I got pg so fast the last time but this time it's been a few months and nothing so far. Good luck to you. Keep posting here and I'll do the same. Hopefully, we'll be posting on the Pregnant over 40 board soon!

Hi there
I am also 42 and had 2 miscarriages, one in March and another one just last weekend.
Its frustrating. I also have been remarried since 97' and have 2 kids from a previous marriage. Now my present hubby and I would like to complete the family with having one of our own. He is 36 and I have reached an age where it is difficult to get the pregnancy to "stick". I have absokutely no problem getting pregnant. So soon we will attempt again and try progesterone suppositories to see if that works. If not then I'm off to the fertility clinic.
So don't get down, its a tough thing to go through, but work with your doc and see what he/she can do to make it happen. I had to change my doc to find one that would answer my questions.
Good luck to you...
