Hello,
Im new to this board, My name is Tina, I live in Northern California, I'm 40 yrs old and going to be ttc soon but I was also scared because of my age & risks that I have had in the past, I do have 3 boys, 4 yrs old, 13 yrs old, 16 yrs old. I have had pre-eclampsia, 2 c-sections following a blood transfusion, those are the complications I have ran in the past so I'm willing to take a chance for another kid. And last one. I was reading it's harder to conceive which in the past it has taken me 2 yrs to get pregnant until I started the saliva test with my last kid and it worked out great for me. And the miscarriage rate is higher, I haven't had a miscarriage in the past but I know, you never know. I'm thinking about all this but I'm really wanting to have one more kid.
I wanted to join this group for support, advice, suggestions, and to see what other ttc over 40 women are going through,

Hi Tina and welcome to the board. Great to have you join us. For some of us, it is harder to get pregnant but for others it has happened on the first try. Maybe for you, with the saliva testing, you can get lucky and get pregnant rather quick..As for miscarriages, we do have a higher % rate of that happening but you can't let that scare you into not trying. Plenty of women our age have healthy happy pregnancies and I'm hoping the same for you. Feel free to jump into any of the threads and chat. It's a little quiet here but I try to check in a couple times a day and the other girls jump in often. Hoping you find great advice and friendship here with us.

Hi Tina, Welcome, I have found that being able to come into these conversations on this board that has given me so much support especially as being over 40 I am tending not to want to discuss this journey with others in my life and as such sometimes can feel lonely, but coming and talking (writing?) in here really helps and cheers me up

Hi Tina, welcome to the board! I am 40 and have that same desire you do to have one more child. I have four boys (6, 8, 10 & 12). I had lots of trouble conceiving my first son in my 20's, but then found out about basal body temperature taking (BBT) and got pregnant very easily after that. If you haven't heard of it, FertilityFriend.com is a great website to help with charting your cycles and Taking Charge of Your Fertility by Toni Weschler is a great resource as well.
