Hi all,
My name is Stacy and I am new to this board. I just turned 40 and I have 2 girls, Haley (7) and Kara (3). After I had Kara, I was sure that I was done having children. DH really wanted another, mostly because he wanted to try for a son. But now that I have started to get rid of our baby things... I really am wanting another baby now. And of course, now DH says that we are too old. It took us over 2 years to get pregnant with our last baby, and I am worried that it will take even longer now.
We still have not decided for sure to TTC, but I wanted to get to know others my age who are going through the same thing.

Hi and welcome! You are certainly not too old, but yes it can take longer. Or sometimes it doesn't. Take me. I struggled with pcos, infertility and miscarriages for many years, and eventually I lost an ovary in an ectopic pregnancy. The pcos issues subsided some, but I still needed a bit of assistance to concieve, and it still took me 8 months to get a bfp, even with things working better than before (took 8 yrs to get a bfp before that). I was 39 at the time, my son was born less than 3 weeks before my 40th birthday. So we weren't done yet, and I started trying again as soon as AF returned. Guess what? It only took us 4 months that time, without any assistance, and I was 42! My easiest time getting pregnant, and my easiest delivery happened when I was 42! Now I am 45 and things are moving a little slower and we have not had a sticky bfp yet, but still hoping.
At just 40 your chances are still pretty good, but I certainly wouldn't wait any longer. When things start to change they can change quite quickly. This is a great group of women, and you will find all sorts of answers and support here. I hope things go well for you regardless of which way you decide to go. :-)

Welcome, Stacy. 40 is still young and, yes, it could take longer, but it might not. Now is a good time to go for it since you are not so far away from your last pregnancy. And of course NO ONE on this board will tell you (or your DH) that you're too old :-)
Welcome and good luck you are in the right place!

Hello Stacy and welcome!
I think I might be the baby of the board only because technically I am cheating by being here. But the 35+ board didn't feel right - and I'll be 40 in less than 4 months anyway.
Welcome Stacey! You will feel right at home here right away I suspect.
