Hi to All! I am new to this board and have been lurking and reading. I love this board! It gives hope to my husband and me. It's nice to be able to vent, to read, to receive advice and to see miracles to happen. My husband and I have been trying for 7 long yrs. I already have a 13 yr. old daughter from a previous relationship. Been thru several IUI's, IVF Cycles, BBT & Charting, ICSI & all the fertility shots, meds & poked & proded and as far as we have gotten is the embryo transfer then......WHAMO! A neg. pg result. We were told I was in early menopause. Any way we decided to take a very long break from trying (over a year) and enjoy life. We enrolled with another fertility center in 10/'02' and have had the CD3 blood test and even passed the chlomid challenge test with flying colors! This fertility center tells me that I am NOT in early menopause, but unfortunately we had our first negative IVF cycle. I handled it pretty well. Today is CD2 and I'm having a new attitude.....I'm looking at this cycle as another chance to have a baby with my husband (this time on our own....who knows!) and if not we'll give the IVF one more chance at this center. It's nice to know we are not alone. Thanks so much for listening and the Best of Luck and Positive Thoughts for you all! Kathy S.

I'm also new to TTC Over 40. I'm getting married for the second time in October and my fiance and I would like nothing more than to have a child. I'm 45 and have had a fertility consultation. IVF with donor eggs was advised because of the high risk of miscarriage related to the age of my eggs. Before I can begin, I have to have a myomectomy to have a rather large fibroid removed. I'm having that done 6/23. Has anyone had this performed ?????

Just a thought... after I read your other post... have you ever been tested for immune problems as that is often a cause of early m/c and there are remedies for it. I would suggest that you start taking low dose therapeutic aspirin (81mg) every day. You can do this on your own without a prescription and it is perfectly safe. It helps to increase blood flow to the uterus and counter acts immune response. Even if you have not been diagnosed with immune problems it is beneficial. I believe there is some information on our TTC Over 40 Website. The link is at the top of the board and there is LOTS of information on TTC especially geared to us 'over 40s'. So check out the website!!!

Kathy welcome to the board! I think the most difficult thing to deal with is the 'unexplained' fertility as there is nothing to focus on or look to for a 'cure'. I also had to face this ... went through all the tests which all came back 'normal' but yet my DH and I could not seem to get pregnant. I would often get low level betas but AF would arrive unwanted but right on time every cycle. I concluded that what I was facing was an egg quality situation and so took the approach of maximizing as many eggs per cycle as I could with minimizing the costs... so no IUI and no IVF just using injectibles to ensure I had multiple follicles/eggs each cycle. After 2 years of TTC we finally got pregnant and I gave birth at age 46 to our DS Spencer..... wishing a miracle happens to you and your DH also.... Pat
