Hi all! This is a x-post but still looking for an answer so I thought I'd try here.

I am 47 with three kids under 10. My periods have always been very regular, never missed one without being pregnant nor have they gotten significantly lighter or heavier in the last couple years. I have had some symptoms of perimenopause though, like occasional night sweats.

I had my tubes tied about 5 years ago at age 42 after my daughter was born. Anyway, I am now about two weeks late. I recently went on a trip abroad and took a bunch of tampons because I figured I would start any day but never did. I usually get sore breasts right before my period starts but they stop being sore once it starts. They have been sore and swollen for about a week. I also have some pulling in my pelvis, big time smell sensitivity and feel a little queasy -- vaguely hungry but nothing sounds good and I don't really want to eat, but feel a little better after I do. I have read about something called phantom periods when you enter menopause and maybe that's what's happening but that doesn't explain the smell sensitivity and why my breasts continue to be sore.

At my age and with having had a tubal it seems impossible I could be pregnant. I feel silly going out and buying a test because it is so unlikely but I am baffled. Does anyone know if your period just suddenly stops in menopause with no real warning? I always figured it would taper off.

Any thoughts?
Thanks,
Jenny

PS I would not be at all upset if I was prgnant because I have been asking my husband for several years to adopt.

I would definately get a test because if your tubes are tied you are running the risk of a tubal pregnancy if you are pregnant. As far as menopause goes, I'm not sure about the symptoms but I thought the periods were supposed to taper off too. Either way, if your body is acting differently than normal you should get checked out.

Just my two cents worth =)

I think I am keeping the First Response company in business, so you know what my answer is going to be!

I got pg in September with one tube, on bcp and we had sex on cd's 7 and 22 (we weren't ttc- I was starting an IVF cycle). Unfortunately it ended up being an ectopic, but it made me believe anything is possible.

Best of luck to you!
