Hi. So glad to find an over 40 board. I'm 41 and have 3 children. I married a great guy last Oct.,who is 15 yrs younger than I. He has no biological children, but just adopted my youngest son, who has Down Syndrome. I had my IUD removed in Nov. After 6 mo. of not getting pregnant, my doc started me on clomid (50mg). June was 100mg of clomid. My cycles are anywhere from 26-34 days, so I'm not sure when I O. OPKs so far have all been neg except for 1 a couple mo. ago. I started charting cm and bbt this mo. I feel like this is consuming me. I'm so frustrated as I never had trouble getting pregnant before. Thanks for letting me vent!

I had a pos OPK Mon. BD'd Sun, Mon, and Tues. So now I'm at the 2 wk waiting stage. I hate that. Seems like my life is set up in 2 wk blocks of waiting and anticipating...either the O, or the AF.

Hi,

Are both lines the same color? You're only O'ing when the TEST LINE is as dark (or darker) than the CONTROL LINE (e.g. this line aways shows up dark, regardless of whether you're ovulating or not). If you're not ovulating, the TEST LINE will be faint.

If you're getting TEST LINES that are as dark or darker than the CONTROL LINES for three days in a row, I'm not sure what that means...If you're still on Clomid, I think that can affect it.

Sorry I can't be more helpful!

Best,
Lois

Carolyn,

It sounds like you may not have O'd yet. When you do, the test line (usually on the left) will be about the same color (or darker) as the control line.

OPKs are confusing 'cause we're used to HPTs where even a faint test line means we're pregnant!

But with OPKs, you'll always see two lines. You just have to wait for the test line to get as dark/darker than the control line...

I'd be interested in hearing from other women who've experienced this...

Good luck!

This is only the 2nd month I've been doing OPK's so I'm not sure, but... The first month I had bought a box with 30 dip sticks. I felt they were difficult to interpret. The color/intensity of the lines was too close. I felt like I was getting a lot of positives when I'm sure I wasn't. This month I spent a lot more to get the digital reading, only 7 tests per box, but the result was definitely pos or neg. I think I'll keep both kinds just as a double check method, but the more expensive ones were definitely easier to read. Good luck!
