Newby looking to have baby

HI all. I am new to the iVillage network. I just turned 45 and am trying to conceive on my own. All relevant numbers and passageways were checked out and all systems said move forward. I took the Follistim injections (which were no problem) and had my first two IUI's about 10 days ago. Wish me luck. This site is such a great place to turn to. Thanks for all of your support and thoughts.

Hi Carrie,
I like your name devinemom2b2005...very positive. I'll jump in and welcome you here. The TTC over 40 board is just very slow right now...I'm sure there are people checking it but either choose not to post or just don't find the time.

I use to be here at the beginning of last year and now I have an 8 month old! I conceived naturally. I am now TTC #2. Keep us posted on how you are doing. I wish you so much luck and sticky baby vibes!

Hi Laura and thanks for the welcome. That is so cool you conceived naturally. How long had you been TTC naturally? Are you trying again naturally or with assistance? I am single and trying with DI. I went my very first round last month. I did Follistim injectibles (which were no problem), then did 2 DIs. Alas yesterday did the PG test and a BFN - Boo Hoo. At least I know what to expect. For me I am not sure how many times I will try ( I just turned 45), but I guess that just depends on cost and what life hands me.

LOL on your #2. The baby photo is so cute...

Hi,
Keep trying. I just started TTC this month. Last time it took about 4 months. I don't even know if I can get PG right now as I chose to BF my DD for 6 mos and AF hasn't returned yet.

Do you like your OB? I hope you get a BFP next time!

Thanks so much for the encouragement. It feels good. I just got back from the RE and he reminded me of the odds (1% at my age) ugh and that is hard to hear. Although I know so many of us do get PG at an older age.

Remind me please: BF is breastfeed and AF is what(menstruation?) ?

LOL and enjoy your 6 mo. old bundle of joy. Baby dust to both of us.

My Re told me that I had the same chances of conceiving naturally as I did with intervention. We have been trying for nearly 18 months naturally and nothing. I decided I wanted to try a couple of rounds of clomid. The first round I did was actually the clomid challenge so they could check fsh, e2 and progesterone. While my progesterone looked good my fsh was 13.9 and my e3 was 86. I was put in the not very likely group. That first clomid challenge I tested bfp, but a week later aunt flo showed. I decided to give it another try. Flo is due today but the +++ hpt beat her here.

My basic point is dont let the gloom and doom of the RE's statistical comments get you down. They are not the end all. Put it in Gods hands. I wish you the bery best, and pray your hopes and dreams come true.

Welcome Carrie,
on another board there's a lady who was also given 1% with her own eggs... well, she got her BFP!! It can happen. There is a lot that can be done, either the meds route; or the more holistic approach, ie. accupuncture, wheatgrass, chinese herbs, meditation; or even both!
Good luck

Awesome. What board is she on? I will read it to keep my hopes up. I am looking into using the chinese herbs too - thanks for the kind words.
