~hello everyone~

my name is Kandi, i am new to the board and i am 40 years old. my husband and i are parents already...but we are now starting to try again. we will be starting clomid and injections in the beginning of sept. i was wondering if anyone could give personal experiences to me about clomid or injections. i am quite nervous about it. i have heard rumors, but never really spoke to anyone who has done either one. once the meds start, we will then have ultra sounds to check for ovulation and then we will do the iui. i have no idea how long the meds are taken. we go for our "talk" with the doctor on the 1st, and then he will tell me when to start the meds. i am so confussed, scard, nervous, worried...concerned. i have all the emotions that most of you have. i am an older mom who wants another child. it really doesn't matter if you have 6 or none. when a woman desires to have a child, that one child can make your whole life complete. i do feel guilty speaking to those who are trying for their first...i know your heart. a child is such a precious gift. i just pray that i can be blessed one more time...

kindly,

Kandi

Hello Kandi and welcome to the board I'm glad you found us.

I have been through many cycles of clomid and have used injectables for ivf.

Hey Kandi!!

I am Sophia, and you are about a month ahead of where I will be going. I still have to do some preliminary stuff, like the HSG and more blood work, but the road my doc thinks he will take initially is Clomid and Gonadatropins. I will look forward to watching your progress, so I know what to expect. The Ladies on this board have been so helpful over the last couple weeks, there is a HUGE amount of wisdom and experience here. Good luck with your journey, and I am sending you some of the baby dust and good wishes I have collected here!

Good luck and do not sweat the shots, just remember the faster you hit the skin, the less painful it is!! (Just a diabetic trick!!)

Hugs to you!!

Hey there Cathie~

WOW~WEE do you know your stuff !! i did go for my first visit, and the monitoring is a good thing. at first i took it as a negative, only becasue i thought he was doing all these tests because i was too old...and the tests were just to be sure that i wasen't. but, from what you wrote and the dr. saying everything he said, i was comforted. thanks so much for your words of wisdom.

can i ask you how old you are and when you conceived...was it through the ivf...? i am praying that the Lord will bless us through the iui treatment...the ivf is not covered by our insurance and with children already, the cost would be too much for us. we were going to start the clomid and the injections this month, but now i am actually going to skip this month. i had a laproscopy one month ago to check my tubes and things...he also did a d & c just to start off with a nice clean uterus...and the dr. would like me to have another cylce ( AF..? )to be sure that the uterus is ready. does that sound right ? so, next month we will start. my period is actually a day late right now, but i am assuming it might have to do with the surgery...? ( fingers crossed ) hopefully in a day or so it will show up. i never thought i would actually want my period....???

well, i will keep you posted, if you don't mind. i see your name on other threads...i like you...you are a sincere kind hearted person...

take care...

Hi there Sophie~

Actualy we are going to be on the same month now. The dr. wants me to wait until next month to start all the meds. i had a laproscopy the 1st of last month and although my period arrived the next day after surgery ( that is my scheduled time ) the dr. wants me to wait for another period prior to starting. he wants to be sure that the uterus has healed from my d & C ...he did that just to clean the cervix and to be sure there was nothing to interfere with the pregnancy...??? i guess that sounds right. so, now i am just waiting for it. it is a day late...but i already checked and the test only shows one line...quite depressing. was getting excited there for a day or so. i guess the surgery has just delayed it.

so, you can keep me posted now. i would love to know how you are feeling on the meds. i am a little nervous, i will admit. i have written to cathie...she is on a lot of threads...she has been very helpful. i hope we can become friends...i would like that...hope to hear from you soon...

...sprinkle...sprinkle...that babt dust to you ...

Hey Kandi!

Well this should be fun! I never looked forward to a period as much as I am looking forward to this one. I just want to get the testing done and see where the old eggs are in the scheme of things, but for now just counting the days to AF!!!

Feel free to email me at any time!!
