My fertility returned when each of my children turned a bit over 3. I would ovulate and with each of those ovulation's (no cycles) I got pregnant. Of course it varies with each woman, I enjoyed having no cycles for so many years (from the time I was 24 until I hit age 40) since I was nursing or pregnant and used extended breastfeeding. Mine were frequent night nursers hence the lack of fertility up until the time they hit a bit over 3 years old. I continued nursing each one until my milk dwindled during pregnancy.

I'm 32ish weeks pregnant, and I was breastfeeding and conceived at 41, 42, and 42.

So conception isn't impossible for a nursing mom. Sure I was nursing a toddler, and I weaned her in April on her 4th birthday, because that's our tradition.
