Ovulation, but no pregnancy ?

I have copious amts. of CM every month and test my urine with Ovulation sticks. It says I ovulate every month, just about midway in cycle of 29-31 days. But, I never get pregnant. I have had a fertility work up done by a RE. The first month my FSH was 3.2, second it was up to 21.3. After I reached, 21.3, he told me that my egg reserves were bad.
However, I have read publications from Fertility Specialists that say that is normal. People have a fluctuation of FSH from month to month. Just wondering why we can ovulate, have sex every day in one month and no BFP ??
I told my (now fired RE) that I did not want to do anything invasive or spend a ton of money. All I really wanted was, some clomid or pergonal. All he wants to do is IVF with donor eggs. So, NOPE.
Thanks for the encouragement, Susan. Here's to STICKY DUST for everyone one this board !!!

Yes, I found out you can ovulate a follicle but there be no egg in it.

Not sure about any of it, really. Poor egg quality? Perhaps. Here is a question: Does anyone know if you can continue to ovulate after all the eggs have gone? I'm thinking NO, b/c then you would go into full blown menopause. Right?
I have a tiny bit of hope. We have an almost 2 year old little boy. We had him (by accident) when I was 45. I am now 47. We only decided to try about 5 mos. ago. We know it is a long shot. Not holding out any hope and are realistic.
I was hopeful at first b/c my first FSH was 3.2 and I have regular periods, never missed one yet, no signs of perimenopause. Even though, my RE says EVERY woman is in perimenopause after 44. But, then when I got the other reading at 20 something and he told me NO WAY can you conceive w/o donor eggs, I just gave up on the fertility specialists. Seems like there would be some happy-medium. Why ALL or NOTHING ??
I guess I am leaving it God's hands. Meanwhile, I will continue to test for ovulation and watch for CM, have frequent sex, etc... I was actually pregnant 6 mos ago for about 3 wks. So, even if I could achieve a pregnancy at this point, M/C is probably eminent.
But, I think, "what the heck" I might as well show up and try every month until I go into full blown menopause. Thanks for all your input. I am relatively new to this.

Just because you ovulate - or your body acts as if you have ovulated is no guarantee that you produce an egg (or more) each month. There are a lot of women who go through ovulation but never produce an egg.
If you have already decided on not doing anything invasive I think you have already made a decision but you might want to get a second opinion from another RE.
Yes, FSH will flucuate and that reading is not the be all and end all of fertility. That information with the information about E2 and other blood work gives a clearer picture.
Have you had an HCG(?) - the test where they inject the dye into your tubes to make sure they aren't blocked? I don't know if that's too invasive for you but it would help flesh out your entire picture - if you have a blocked tube that could be interfering with your success.
Good luck.

hi,
You could be ovulating, but the egg quality could be poor. That's what's left if the reserve is low. But, there could be one good one out there. If you aren't up for IVF, you might try another RE and ask for Femera. Also, you're right - the FSH level test is unreliable. Ask for your AMH level to be tested.
hope that helps,
