Pg. after HSG ????

Thanks to everyone that sent good wishes for my 2nd IVF attempt. My beta was a 12. I went for another today but have been bleeding tons and POAS every morning with ngative results so I'm sure it is chemical.

I can't believe that out of 14 mature eggs/ 13 fertilized and 6 great looking embies put back in that nothing happened !!! However, I am not done yet. DH is not interested in another IVF...we are tapped out. So I am looking at other avenues and putting all my trust in God.

My question is this.....have any of you had a HSG ?????(hystersalpingogram-- done to see if your tubes are blocked ---that's when they inject dye in to your tubes and do x-rays to look for blockage.)

I got pg on my own when I was 39............... 4 months after having an HSG. I just looked on the net and there are a few sites that say that having an HSG will remove mucus, debris, etc in your tubes and shows an increased pg rate up to 7 months after the procedure. There was one message board where women were confirming this. I just googled "HSG increase pregnancy" and found a bunch of stuff.

My HSG was painful as he!! as my left tube was blocked and has since been removed...but I got pg 3 months after removal.......

If anyone here has had this experience or knows anything about it, could you let me know. I am also going to talk to my RE about it.

Thanks,

Hi Sarah:
I had an HSG about 8 or 9 years ago. Mine wasn't painful, a bit uncomfortable, but there was no blockage so maybe that is why. My gyn back then told me that often there are higher rates of pregnancy after an HSG. I say go for it!!!

P.S. I am 1 DPO, so keep your fingers crossed for me!

Christy,

Fingers and toes are crossed. You go girl !

Thanks for the info on the HSG. I think that is my next step if my RE or OB will go for it....I don't think it will be a problem. After my m/c that I had 4 months after my HSG, I had a HUGE cyst rupture and I'm wondering if it may have caused some damage to the fimbrae on the end of the fallopian tube where the egg gets picked up or may have even caused some kind of blockage to the tube...they are very close.

I just don't like the term "unexplained" for IF...I think it stinks and will do everything possible to figure out what's going on.......

Keep me updated on how things are going !

Sarah..........again so sorry about your IVF.....it does seem so crazy that our of 6 eggs it was not successful. What you do know is that you do have a healthy supply of eggs and you should try anything else you can.

I did have an HSG as well, although there was no blockage, my RE said we had a better chance of getting pregnant during the 3-4 months following. I didn't have any pain, but I also didn't have anything removed. I also had a laparoscopy with a slight bit of endometreosis, and again the RE said chances were higher following that surgery as well.......I would check into the HSG.......Suanne

I am so sorry that the cycle didn't result in a successful pregnancy {{hugs}}

My youngest is a HSG baby. I remember some pain during the proceedure, but I took the bus home on my own, so it couldn't have been too bad.

It's been a while, but if I remember correctly, I got my period after the HSG, and the very next cycle I was pregnant.
