I went to my pre op today and just when you start feeling hopeful the dr pulls you down.
Once again she said since I've never had a viable pregnancy in my forties the chance
Of it actually happening is extremly slim. Great just what I wanted to hear!
I am so down and can't stop crying! My husband just shakes his head and is no support.
thanks for letting me vent.

Did she mean you personally have never had one and the chances are slim or did she mean she, in general has not had a patient with one and the chances are slim?

Personally I would look for another doctor. It is hard enough TTC without your doctor pulling you down. There are plenty of optimistic doctors out there with the intelligence to know nothing is beyond possibility!

Don't let it get you down!

I agree with Lesa -- a new Dr. You can't let these Drs and their "opinions" get to you -- they are just that: "opinions", not predictions. They don't know everything. A heck of a lot of women have been told "never" only to find themselves PG. Do what feels right for you, Sarah and don't give up just because you don't fit with somebody's stats. Hope you feel better.

Sarah, sorry the doctor has not been more sympathetic. I hear ya -- the RE who did my septum resection was also a doomsayer about my chances of getting pregnant naturally. However, he was a great surgeon who had performed hundreds of resections, so I stuck with him for that part, at least.

If your doc really is the best in the area at this surgery, you might consider staying with her for that, then finding a new fertility doc.
