Hey ladies, since so many of you asked, I am starting a new thread so everyone can find/read it.
I haven't spoken too much about my work with Julia Indochiva, the author of Inconceivable. Maybe that was a mistake. She is the author of Inconceivable and the Fertile Female. She is one of those people that as soon as I started working/talking with her, I knew that my life was going to change in a positive way. She has a website Fertileheart.com that has a wealth of information to read about infertility...all free. She also has guests blogs, success stories, etc. She has appeared on Good Morning America and Oprah.
I started working with her in late March, early April, I believe. I have been working in her fertility support teleconference circles. After my last RE appt, I decided to go see her and attend a fertility seminar at her house in Woodstock, NY. This weekend my husband and I drove to see her. A few tidbits from the seminar I attended.....
1. She uses Guided Imagery, Diet and working with "Issues in Your Tissues" to fight infertility. She does not have a strict diet to follow, just common sense. She does agree with the no alcohol/caffeine rule. Also foods like peas are a no-no, since they have a natural contraceptive in them. These are all listed in her book, The Fertile Female or her website. She told us that 75% of Infertile people have some form of indigestion problems. She told us if (for example) you suspect dairy or gluten bothers you, cut it out for 2 weeks. If you feel better, then don't eat it. If you don't, then don't worry about cutting it from your diet. Basically eating the good stuff, as everyone knows. Food in its natural state, avoiding too much meat, etc.
2. She doesn't believe in the AMH/FSH hype. There are articles about Low AMH/high FSH on her website. She conceived with a FSH of 42 naturally. They had told her there was no documented evidence of anyone conceiving on their own with levels like hers. She believes in being realistic about our situation, but the doctors do not know or understand everything about those levels.
3. She considers the body a "Human Loaf". She told us that doctors usually view as as a machine. You put 2 machine parts together to get another machine. Though their science does not always work, as a failed IVF for example. There is a mystery part out there that no one can explain. She put a piece of bread on a plate and asked us to name the ingredients. We said flour, water, yeast, salt, etc. She asked what happens if you add a tiny more bit of salt to the batter. According to scientists, it doesn't change a thing. But we agreed that the bread becomes saltier. So her point is, one little change can make the biggest difference in the batter, or "Human Loaf".
4. She told the one lady that we can't go into the bedroom thinking we have old eggs or we are infertile. How are we supposed to conceive when we are telling our body these negative things?
One note...she does not give medical advice. She doesn't look down on anyone that uses assistance. She told us that she probably would have tried IVF, etc., but no one would help her due to her age and hormone levels. She believes in personal growth and making yourself the healthiest person you can be. When she changed her approach all those years ago, she started seeing changes in her energy, her attitude and her cycle. AF changed to a lighter color and lengthened to 5 days.
I know that some of you may not be able to attend a seminar or participate in the phone circles due to money issues. Her books are pretty cheap, and her website has SO much information on it, and that is free. If you are looking for inspiration, there are stories on there for a multitude of issues....
