I am 44 yo and am planning to have a TR early 2010. In an effort to prepare my body and give my partner and I the best shot possible at conceiving after the procedure, I have started taking Vitex (400 mg/twice daily) and drinking raspberry leaf tea at least once a day. Does anyone have experience with either or both? Testimonials? Warnings? Also, I have read that one should stop taking Vitex as soon as you know you are pregnant. That makes me wonder about how long it will stay in my system and what the effects may be on a developing fetus. Thanks for any input. I appreciate the support and information that I am getting through these boards. Jen

Hi. I just started taking inositol, a B vitamin to help with egg quality and such. I have not done vitex. I haven't done raspberry leaf tea (except at the end of a pregnancy) either but I know it is said to be good for reproductive health. Extra folic acid is an important one as well as your regular vitamins and drinking plenty of water.

By the way, you might want to put further discussion questions in one of the other folders so it doesn't get missed. :-)

Thanks! I'm gonna look into inositol. Ya, I'm new to these message boards. There's a ton of them! Still trying to figure out the best way to get my stuff out. I haven't had a chance to look at your profile. What's your story? How old? Kids? SO? Nice to "meet" you. Jen

I've heard Vitex can be good to regulate your cycles if they are irregular. Mine were regular and taking Vitex seemed to make them a little irregular so I stopped it. Red raspberry leaf tea is supposed to help build the uterine lining during the follicular phase, but I've heard it's not good to drink after O as it can cause tiny uterine contractions which may not be great for an embryo trying to implant.

Like the pp, I have been taking inositol, which is just a b-vitamin, and a little C0Q10. I was taking a small dose of DHEA (25 mg) before this cycle and up to O in hopes of helping egg quality. I have PCO type ovaries but not PCOS so I didn't want to take much. I did have a bit of a stronger response to stims this time... stimmed 11 days for the first time (usually I stim 10 days), had 10 follies 16mmm and above and another 8 right at 15-15.5, nit counting smaller follies. Beta was 8 yesterday at 14dpiui so pg but worried about ectopic.

I took vitex for a month but it made me feel awful and it threw my cycle off.

In answer to your question about my story, here goes!

I am 44, DH is 45. We waited 8 yrs for our first, finally went to injectibles to ovulate, m/c #1, #2 is our 14 yo DS. M/c #3, #4 was ectopic and I lost both my tube and my ovary on that one. We were fostering at that time, and adopted our 11 yo DS. Started ovulating on my own, but then m/c #5, had D&C which messed me up again. Went to clomid to get things going, conceived our 4 yo DS. Managed to conceive our 2 yo DD (3 yo in a couple of weeks!) naturally. M/c #8 and then #9 just last January, (both naturally, no clomid) and are trying to conceive (and carry) #10 by the end of the year. DH really doesn't want to try much past that, although I am wavering a bit on that one! Lol! So there you have it in a nutshell. All in all I have been pregnant 9 times, carried 3, and adopted 1.
