Testing mucus Thursday - pain?

OK, I am seeing the doc on Thursday morning to have a sample of my mucus tested to see if it's too acidic for the sperm. It involves a catheter in the cervix. That sounds like a lot of pain to me. Has anyone had this done, and how much did it hurt? Should I take DH with me for support, or will it just gross him out?

I actually don't remember if I had this or not, but I'm guessing I did. And I've had a catheter thingy in my cervix for IUIs...it causes a little cramping, but it's not painful and I didn't need any help driving afterwards or anything. If you're a big baby (like I am), ask your doc if you can take a Tylenol beforehand to relax you. They don't want you taking anything for some tests, which is why I'm recommending that you ask. :-)

Thank you! That is so good to hear. Years and years ago, I had to terminate. It was so incredibly painful and I was afraid that this test would be as bad.

Oh Kim,

I'm so sorry! Big hugs! You know, just to be on the safe side, can you call your doc's office and ask whether they'll be giving you anything that'll prevent you from driving afterwards? Usually for any procedure that they thought would impair me, they told me to bring my husband with me so he could take care of me afterwards.

Good luck!

Good advice, I will call and ask about that. And thanks for not judging.
