Told I had "old" eggs
52

When I was married at 40, I was told it was unlikely I would have any children because of my age and "old" eggs. By taking Clomid, I had my first child at 41, my second at 42 and my third (just before) my 44th. I always wanted 4 children so we began to dicuss adoption (because now my eggs were "older"). My husband was reluctant to adopt. I did online research. Last month, in October, I bought Vitex (natural clomid-like, Chaste berry) and took it between day 3-7 of my cycle. It is November, and my preg. test is (+). I am 46 and will deliver my fourth at age 47!

Congratulations, That is wonderful and it gives me hope. I'll be 46 in december and i've been trying for #2 for about 2 years. I was beginning to think it was time to give up but I just can't totally convince myself of that yet. Can I ask where you bought the Vitex at. Thanks, Robin

Congratulations!! What a wonderful story - so many women are told they are "too old" and just give up.

In asking where I purchased the Vitex: at the local vitamin & nutrition store. It is chaste berry. I took three on the first day. I got a headache so on day 4-7, I took it 2/day (every 12 hours). I could feel my ovaries kick in ("warm" feeling) with the slight headache. I seemed to have more energy. That was nice too!! I'll keep you in my prayers!

Dear Walkingbyfaith4:

That is WONDERFUL!!! I have been taking Vitex just starting last month. Also I have been taking Fertility Blend bvitamins, which has Vitex in it (but it doesn's say how much) for about 2 months. I didn't know that it was similar to Clomid, but I did read that if I begin taking Clomid, (still under discussion with my doctor), that I have to stop the Vitex, because apparently Vitex and Clomid don't mix. Anyway, thank you for your inspirational story! I am almost 46, and we are ttc our 1st! Congratulations on your succuss! Do you have any tips on how to sustain the pregnancy? I have heard that the uterus lining can get thin, and needs supplements to keep it strong, but I have not found any supplements on the natual health websites regarding this.

Clomid is a 5 day medication taken early in the cycle. I took Vitex for 5 days, only. Because of the research I did, I would not take Vitex daily. My understanding, Vitex/Clomid are enhancing the FSH/LH hormone production in the female cycle (helping the egg production). Reason can't take these at the same time: Vitex competes with Clomid. I do not know of supplements to help the uterus. Blessings to you! <><

Wow! That's great! I am 41 going on 42. I have been trying since last Oct. to conceive (on my own as well as IVF) Hasn't happened yet. I have also been going to an accupunturist to help. Although, after today's consultation at a different fetililty clinic, I almost felt like all hope was lost! I came out of there in tears. I read that the clinic's success rate was 70% probably because they don't want to deal with women and their "old eggs". He basically said it's too late for me.
Can you believe that?

When I was engaged, at 40, my doctor told me it would be unlikely to have my own children. (old eggs- he even drew me a gragh!) I left in tears, called my fiancee and asked if he would want a younger bride since my doctor said we would probably not be able to have our own children. His reply, we'll trust God. This same doctor is the one who RX'd Clomid. First child, first round. A year later, my doctor told "this may not happen again for you, after all you are another year older"(older eggs). Third round, second child. Another year later, he assured me it may not be likely, again! Fifth round, third child. It has been over 2 1/2 years. I am not currently a patient of this MD. Decided to do my own research (I am in the medical field). I took the Vitex (5 days only - like clomid), I was pregnant 2 weeks later!! I thought I would have to go 3 - 4 months! Hope this finds you encouraged!!!
