Too Early to Test??
| Tue, 05-25-2010 - 3:44pm |
Hi!
I posted this on the TTC board too:
Is it too early for HPT?
I am 7DPO, and my cycle is 29 days long. I am currently on Day 23 of my cycle. Here is my chart: http://www.fertilityfriend.com/home/2ef368
What are the chances of a False Negative if I tested today?
Thanks!

Thanks ladies,
I guess I am confused, because on the First Response tests I bought, it says that you can find out up to 6 days before your period is due. If that is the case, and I have a normal luteal phase, that would mean I could test 7DPO. Is that false advertising? Seems so to me!

I am just overly anxious and want to know. I took the HPT today (7DPO) and it was BFN. :( I wish I could jsut wait and forget about it so I wouldn't test too early and be disappointed, or if I"m not PG, I don't want to keep getting BFNs days in a row. I am going to try to wait. :(
Part of it will depend on the sensitivity of your test, but I wouldn't. Implantation is supposed to occur 6 or 7 DPO, so if you are only now 7 DPO then there is virtually no chance for there to be enough HCG to measure on a urine test. The earliest test I have seen has said 4 days before AF is due, and even then the accuracy is much lower than waiting until closer to when you expect AF. If money is not an issue, then test whenever you like, but I would wait until closer to the end of your cycle to avoid that awful feeling of a negative HPT. And remember to check what your test says, they are not all created equal!
Is there some reason you are wanting to test so early? Have you been feeling any symptoms? Or just anxious to know what is going on? :-)
