Welcome, Kim! I too am sorry about your losses, but very happy about your baby girl. Gives hope to those of us who want to become first-time moms after 40. Like you, I was married for a long time -- and on the pill for a long time -- before we decided to TTC. I'd love to hear more about how you came to your decision.

You'll find lots of great info here, plus the most supportive group of women in all of iVillage.

Hi susan, to answer your question about what made me finally want babies, I guess I got tired of looking at just my DH everyday! LOL!!

Actually, my DH had wanted babies from day one.

Ha, Kim, it happened to me at 39, too. Thanks so much for posting your story. I am so happy you had your baby and clearly, since you're TTC #2, being a mom has been good for you!

Me, I was on the fence about having children for years. Our marriage was great, we were financially comfortable, we traveled a lot -- why mess with something good? We finally decided DH would go for a vasectomy, but no sooner did he consult a urologist then I started to think, "Noooooooooooooo!!! I want a baby!" That was about 18 months ago. We've been TTC for about 13 months, with one pregnancy in April that resulted in a miscarriage six weeks later. Devastating. So here we are, still trying. I am currently seeing an RE, had my bloodwork done, did the HSG, yada yada yada. Fingers crossed for a BFP for you and me and everyone else this month.

You know I've thought about giving up and just being happy with one baby, but I've been told that if we've been pg once we'll get pg again, and sure enough I did.

Yeah another KIM!! welcome to the board!!! First Hugs to you for your losses its always hard to have this frightening thought of a loss but many here have had similar losses and gone on to conceive again! You have certainly found the right forum as we here have a great supportive group of women with a common cause TTC!!!! Clomid is a good start but i would recommend some CD3(cycle day) bloodwork for starters to see how your holding up hormonally. Its good if your proactive and keep on top of your cycles to give yourself the added advantage each month too with OPKs ,temping etc...Some women are have luck with DHEA too! So much infor here so please read through the posts and ask all the questions you want we are all here for you and hope you speedy success on #2!!

Hello and welcome,

I'm pretty new here too, but this has been a great place!

So sorry for your losses! But it's always great to read about successful pregnancies after 40 and it sounds like you're still in the game.

Definitely check out the posts regarding DHEA. It sounds really interesting. I haven't tried it yet myself, but am seriously considering it.

Hi Kim & welcome!

I suffered several miscarriages and then 14 months of TTC with no success. I turned to Clomid, and 4 cycles later... a BFP... which gave rise to my newly born son, Sawyer (7 weeks old).

It can mess with you a bit, but it is usually very minor. Clomid should adjust all your fertility hormones and hopefully bolster ovum development... and even more hopefully will lead you to your BFP.

Good luck and welcome aboard!
